Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DEBBY MARG. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi DEBBY, thanks for joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
For years, if someone had asked who I was, the answer would have been simple:
“She’s an opera singer.”
And they would have been right.
I spent years studying classical voice, performing operatic repertoire, and building my life around that world. Opera gave me so much.
It became my profession, the path I had chosen, and a fundamental part of my identity.
But, as my career continued to grow, I found myself asking a question I could no longer ignore:
“What would happen if I showed people who I really am?”
I started to feel that opera represented only one part of who I was.
Stepping beyond the classical world meant leaving a path that was familiar and secure and following one I couldn’t clearly see, guided only by the feeling that something was waiting for me on the other side.
I decided to take the risk and trust that feeling. I changed direction.
People’s reactions were mixed. Some people loved it, others were confused, and some thought I was making a big mistake. At times, it felt like I was swimming against the current.
But for the first time, I chose to be myself.
Looking back, I can say that decision changed the course of my life in ways I never could have predicted.

DEBBY, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born in Palermo, Sicily, and currently live in Castelbuono, a small medieval town nestled among the mountains of the Madonie Natural Park. Growing up in a place rich in nature, history, and ancient traditions shaped me more than I ever realized.
As I mentioned earlier, for years, everyone knew me as an opera singer. But there came a moment when I felt the need to explore another side of myself.
That journey began through my YouTube channel.
It started as a way to share my voice with a wider audience, but soon became something much more personal and creative. Through film scores, video game music, fantasy worlds, I finally found a space where all the different parts of my artistic identity could come together.
I wasn’t just singing. I was creating.
I began experimenting with arrangements, exploring different vocal styles, creating costumes, recreating scenes, and building visual worlds around the music I loved.
At the same time, I was going through one of the most difficult periods of my life. I had experienced a profound personal loss, and many things felt uncertain.
And then, out of nowhere, an opportunity arrived.
I wasn’t looking for it. I hadn’t applied for it. In fact, I never imagined it could happen at all.
The videos I shared online unexpectedly opened the door to international touring productions.
Today, I perform on major stages across Europe alongside talented musicians from around the world, bringing to life the music of Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone, The Lord of the Rings and The Lion King in front of thousands of people.
Music has taken me to places I never expected, introduced me to extraordinary people, and shown me that the world is far bigger—and far more connected—than I once imagined.
Yet, despite everything that has happened so far, I feel that the most important chapter is still ahead of me.
Because beyond the singer, beyond the performer, there is another side of me that few people know: I’ve been composing for as long as I can remember.
For years, I’ve been quietly building an entire universe of original music behind the scenes.
Very few people know about that side of me, not because I wanted to keep it secret, but because I’ve always believed that some things reveal themselves when the time is right.
And I feel that moment is getting closer.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, there is.
Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by the unknown.
I’ve often found myself wondering about the mysteries of life, spirituality, the universe, and the invisible connections that seem to link everything together. Music has always been my way of exploring those existential questions and giving shape to things that are often difficult to express in words.
I believe music has the power to elevate us, to connect us with something greater than ourselves, and to remind us that there is always more to discover than what we can immediately see and understand.
With my orchestral compositions, original songs, and future creative projects, I hope to share that sense of wonder with others. That is the heart of my mission.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is connection.
Some of the most beautiful moments happen on stage, when I look into the audience and see people smiling at me, singing along, or becoming emotional. In those moments, I realize that music has taken on a life of its own. It no longer belongs to me; it belongs to everyone sharing that experience.
Those are the moments I carry home with me. They are a reminder of why singing is such a powerful and beautiful gift.
