Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Squizzero.

Hi Debbie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started seeing and sensing Spirit around the age of six.

During my late teens and into my twenties, a few significant things began to happen. I started to dream vividly about my deceased loved ones in Heaven. They appeared to me as if we were still together in the physical world. There were a few commonalities in all these dreams. My loved ones were no longer struggling with any mental, emotional, physical, or spiritual hardships they may have carried in the physical world. They were always full of love, and I could feel it telepathically, or they would tell me in the dream, or visitation, as I now know it to be.

Additionally, I became very intrigued with the afterlife and had many questions, wanting to learn more about it. James Van Praagh came out with his book Talking to Heaven, and I thought, “Oh my, he totally gets my world,” as he answered so many wonderings I had about the afterlife and Heaven. I also became curious about tarot cards and started going for readings. Throughout my twenties, I went to a few readers, but there was one Psychic Medium I visited on and off for ten years. She would repeatedly tell me the same thing that other readers, psychics, or Mediums had told me—that I had a gift, talent, or ability to do this work. I thought she was crazy and told her so. I was in my twenties and studying to be an Early Childhood Special Education teacher.

In my late teens and twenties, I also noticed that people would share with me some of their deepest, darkest situations and struggles or very sensitive, personal information. After this happened a few times, I finally asked people why they were confiding in me and telling me these deeply personal things or situations in their lives. I just knew without a doubt, or could feel, that I was truly the first person they were sharing this sensitive information with. When I asked a few people this question of why they would confide in me with such personal matters, their answers were quite similar, usually sounding something like, “Well, you give good advice,” or “Your advice has really helped me in the past.”

In my early thirties, Spirit became a driving force in my life, and I became fully open to seeing, sensing, hearing and feeling the Spirit world.
We all experience hardships and challenges in the physical world. In my thirties, I experienced a very deep, challenging, emotional situation. While trying to navigate through the chaos and uncertainty, Spirit became very loud. I would ask a question to myself and inevitably receive an answer that I just KNEW was not from me! At this time, I was teaching on a full time basis in a public school system. I began picking up on information from my co-workers as they walked by me, or I just knew things about them. I started to journal a lot during this time to help channel this energy. As my life became more chaotic, Spirit’s voice and presence grew louder.

I decided to make an appointment with the Psychic Medium who had read for me on and off throughout my twenties (the one who kept telling me I was going to do this work- I told her she was crazy- lol ). This was twenty years ago when I met with this woman a few times a year, so email was just coming on the scene with AOL online, and cell phones were big and carried in a bag, known as a bag phone. I just want to set the scene of how things were back then. I emailed her, and she told me she had moved to Canada and could do a phone reading, but it was months out, and I needed guidance sooner as Spirit was becoming louder. A few ladies I taught with recommended a local healer to me, speaking very highly of her. She could see me within a week, so I booked an appointment with her, and she changed my life forever in the most beautiful way.
She not only connected me to my loved ones in Heaven, but she also explained all the chaos that was happening and why Spirit was so loud at this time in my life. She helped me make sense of the turmoil, and in the end, she said the same thing that the Psychic Medium had told me during my twenties. She told me I had a gift, talent, or ability, whatever you’d like to call it, and that I could help people like she did. This was one reason Spirit was becoming so loud. The heavy emotional situation triggered Spirit to let me know I needed to step forward and embrace the next chapter of my life. I had no idea this was truly my life’s purpose to be in service to others and serve the Spirit world.

I said to this healer, “You’re telling me that what you just did for me—connecting me with my loved ones in Heaven and helping me understand all this chaos in my life—I can bring this same kind of healing, comfort, and understanding to others?” She said, “Yes!” I said, “Sign me up! Everyone needs to experience that life and love are eternal and continue long after our loved ones leave the physical world, and that they can help guide us with our obstacles and challenges from Heaven.”

After that session, I signed up and took every class she offered. I learned about angels, oracle cards, mediumship, and more. After a couple of years, I moved on to a local metaphysical store where I sat in a development circle for more than four years. At that time, twenty years ago, I didn’t know that’s what I was doing or what it was called. All I knew was that I had a deep passion and excitement to go there every Sunday. Development circle is an absolute must for any developing Medium. A practice or development circle is where a Medium enhances their connection to the Spirit world, practices mediumship in a structured environment, and learns how to serve the Spirit world with integrity, among other things.
While working in circle, I also learned Tarot and took beginner and advanced Tarot classes. At this time, I was looking for “guinea pigs,” as I call them. I reached out to family and friends and friends of friends to read and practice my developing mediumship skills. I read out of my home for many years before I found the courage to read at different shops and eventually rented my own office. I worked as a teacher for 23 years, ten of those years I spent working my business behind the scenes during nights and weekends.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Opening fully to Spirit, sitting in development circles, learning from others in the field, and reading out of my home began in 2004.

By 2006, I started renting small spaces and offices here and there, working nights and weekends in addition to my full-time position as a special education teacher. Fast forward to 2019, and I could feel a significant shift in my teaching and focus, as I was being pulled more toward teaching my clients about the afterlife and Heaven. I couldn’t wait to finish my day at school so that I could meet with my clients at night. This shift became more and more evident in my day-to-day life.

In 2019, Spirit told me that I would leave teaching and embark on a full-time journey as a Psychic Medium. I told my Spirit team they were crazy! I wanted to do this full time, but I had 23 years in the system, retirement set up, benefits, and a master’s degree. How could this even happen? I considered taking a year-long leave of absence from my teaching position to see how I could possibly grow my business full-time, but I knew I wouldn’t pull the trigger on that. It was just a thought and something I talked about, but deep down, I knew I wouldn’t do it.

By November 2019, I was becoming energetically ill. When someone is energetically sick, they might experience symptoms such as fatigue, emotional instability, anxiety, or physical illness that cannot be easily explained by conventional medicine. This was exactly what was happening to me, and I was so run down I couldn’t catch up.
By January 2020, I was physically ill for an extended period, which was unheard of for me. I had a weight loss journey in my 30s and still maintain the healthy habits I learned 20 years ago. I am currently in my early 50’s. I eat healthily, exercise, and rarely get sick for more than 3 or 4 days.

After being sick for around six days back in 2020, I made an appointment to see my primary care doctor, who has known me all my life. I told her what was going on, and when she took my blood pressure, she was concerned because it was elevated—something that had never happened before. I explained everything that was going on in my life: working two jobs, dealing with personal issues in my life and issues at work, and not being able to sleep, concentrate, or get through some daily routines that needed to be completed. After speaking with me for a bit, she explained that I was experiencing a stress-induced mental and emotional breakdown. She wrote me out of my teaching work for an extended period.

During that time, I pursued my year-long leave of absence from teaching. I was approved for the leave, and during that time, Spirit made it VERY apparent that working as a Psychic Medium is where I needed to be full-time, as so many doors in the spiritual community opened for me easily and effortlessly.

That breakdown was the best worst thing that ever happened to me. It gave me the strength to move forward and leave my 23 year teaching career. Spirit took care of all my worries about leaving, in ways I couldn’t have thought of on my own. It was a matter of trust and surrender.

During my weight loss journey, I became very interested in weight lifting and personal training. I competed in Figure Competitions from age 32-38 placing in the top 5 in each competition and also winning a Pro Card to competing at the pro level. I also became a personal trainer in my thirties to inspire others about losing weight and eating healthy.
