We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Debbie McGillivray a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Debbie, thanks for joining us today. Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers

I believe I have one of the best jobs in the world, I talk to animals. Not just household pets like cats, dogs and birds, but all animals including lions, tigers, bears, reptiles and fish. There is no limit to who and what we can communicate with, because all things hold energy and information. I also communicate with animals in spirit which can provide tremendous healing to the people left behind after their beloved animal transitions. I have been blessed to do what I love for over 25 years thanks to a little goat named Tyler that opened my heart and mind to this phenomenon. I share this story because I believe we can all communicate with the animals, we all have this ability. It is just a matter of believing, opening your heart, and quieting your mind.

This is how I got started on my journey of telepathic communication with animals….

.A few of my friends decided to take a road trip to attend a weekend course to help us learn how to connect with animals and “talk” with them in a new way. I must admit the thought of communicating with the animals seemed way too good to be true. I doubted that this was possible, but decided to go along for the ride. At the end of the weekend, I took a walk out to the barn and attempted to put this new skill to the test. Notebook in hand, I headed out to the barn eagerly. When I entered, I saw a goat with his front legs perched on top of his gate. As I approached him, I thought I heard “Don’t ya think I’m handsome?” Hmmm, I thought, this feels like I am making this up. Then I thought I heard “your pants are funny.” Yes, I thought to myself……they were funny looking yoga pants. And how embarrassing that my fashion choice is being heckled by a goat! I chuckled to myself, thinking this was all very amusing but has to be my imagination. Then what came next surprised me. I heard “So, what do you think of my ornaments?” Confused…..I wrote it down in my notebook. Then he said “move along, there are others who want to speak to me.” “Ok” I said, and thanked him. The teacher asked us to share what communications we got with the animals. I told her about my interaction with Tyler the goat, how he was handsome and thought my pants were funny, and oh yeah, asked me what I thought of his ornaments. The teacher laughed, and said that the staff refers the hay and grass that hang from his horns as his ornaments. They tease him about it all the time. My jaw dropped. WOW, I didn’t make this up!! I was a converted skeptic and from that day forward was passionate about perfecting this communication process so that I could help people understand the animals on a deeper level. Yes! I had found my life purpose.

I have had some crazy stories during my 25 years as a communicator, I will share a few with you. My good friend runs an Exotic Animal Preserve and lost one of her beloved Lions at a young age to cancer. She could usually feel her lion friend around in spirit but recently had not felt anything and she began to grieve all over again. She asked me to connect with him to see where he was and what he was doing. When I connected with his spirit, he wanted to reassure my friend that he was still around and watching over things. He even described a few things that my friend had been doing recently along with his recommendations on how to do it better. But what he said next was interesting! He said, “tell her that she will hear from me tonight.” I relayed the message to my friend and we disconnected for the evening. The next morning my friend called me and said “you will not believe what that lion did!” She went on to tell me that she got a call at 2 in the morning from the police asking if she had all her lions. He said that he got a call from a neighbor saying there was a lion in the road. She jumped out of bed and confirmed she had all her lions safe and secure. She knew right then, that this was her lion’s way of letting her know he was around. I guess she certainly heard from him that night!
A question people often ask is who their animal is with on the other side. I am happy to report our animals are surrounded by loving family and friends. Many of the animals that I communicate with in spirit will pull through other animals and people to show their humans who they are hanging out with. And many times they will also report on events going on in their person’s life from their viewpoint. I got a call from a woman wanting to contact her little dog, Mel, who passed into spirit 4 months prior. When I connected with him, he began to show me a woman and a man he was with. The woman was missing a hand, and the man had on a flannel shirt and toy trains all around him. When I relayed this info to my client, she was silent. Then she said that her sweet dog was with her parents. Her dad was a small man that collected toy trains and her mom had come to her in a dream after she had passed and in the dream she only had one hand. This was a double confirmation that her beloved dog was being well taken care of with her parents on the other side, and validation that her mother had communicated with her from spirit through a dream where she appeared to her with one hand. There is great comfort in knowing that our animals have friends and relatives on the other side waiting for them.

I am a professional animal communicator and pet intuitive with over 25 years of experience. I have also authored 3 books “Animal Communication Boot Camp,” “Untamed Voices” and “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Pet Psychic Communication.” I am able to communicate with animals all over the globe and hold workshops to teach people how to access this ability. I truly believe that we all hold the ability to communicate with our animal friends and I am dedicated to opening people’s hearts and minds to this phenomenon.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Word of mouth. I do not advertise and all my new clients come from recommendations from previous clients. I feel that this helps people feel more comfortable stepping out of their comfort zone and making the leap to use an animal communicator for the first time. One of my first clients 25 years ago still contacts me for readings.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

I think with any business there are people who truly love what they do and are good at it. Before every consultation I do, I always ask for the information to come through for the good of all involved, and with clarity and kindness. I value people’s time and respect their unique situation and relationship with their animals. My reputation is built upon thousands of return clients and word of mouth. I always come from a place of humility and compassion, and I feel that this is the foundation of what I do.
