We recently connected with Debbie Calabro and have shared our conversation below.
Debbie , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
My family loves to travel and explore new places! My parents, who met in Germany, always took us places to enrich us.
When covid hit and many could not travel, we would play 20 questions using a memory from a trip we had taken. It focused on all the fun we had and got us excited for more adventures when the world was safe again to travel.
Anita Desai once said “Wherever you go becomes a part of you somehow.” and it is very true as these memories you create in a new place, with new foods, new people will last a life time!
On my social media, each week I feature a place that we have taken a family vacation to. I give tips on where we went, how to save money and all the advice I can give from our trip there. I want to make it easy for others to take family trips and help them make these lasting memories!

Debbie , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a mom to a 12 year old son, a wife and a kindergarten teacher. My parents always gave us real life experiences and helped mold me into who I am today.
When my son was born and friends would see on my personal social media page us going places, they would ask questions like “can I bring a stroller”, “is it toddler friendly”, “where did you park”, “where did you go eat after.” Soon it became so many were asking that I started a private page for my friends and then turned it public to help everyone!
The Facebook/Instagram/Website is called Milton Moms Family Fun around Atlanta where I post about family fun and give tips on places we visit such as where to park, bring those snacks to save money, is the place easy for strollers or older grandparents, if I know how to get tickets cheaper and more.
.All of my posts are based on personal experiences and there is nothing better than getting a message about how much fun a family had thanks to my post!
In this world of uncertainty knowing what to expect when you go somewhere helps make the trip more enjoyable.
I have a day dedicated to a specific features:
Milton Mondays,I feature a local or small business to help spread the word about them
Travel Tuesday, I feature a family vacation with tips
Walking Wednesday, a place to enjoy a nature walk
Thirsty Thursday, a local bistro or favorite place we dine
Family Fun Friday and Super Saturday, are familly friendly places with all the tips you need before you go.
I take pride in my social media pages in that it is first hand experiences and I give truthful tips about a trip and all my advice is given to truly help others and make it easier for them! There is no greater joy then helping others learn about places to take their family they may not have ever thought about. Sometimes it can be the most simple thing such as taking my 4 month old to the Lowes fan section and parking his stroller under all the ceiling fans. He loved to watch them and the best part, it was free!
I think the funniest thing that has happened is one post had 1.7 million views in about a week and it was when Slime City came to Atlanta. My husband always jokes about how do that many people love slime! You never know what becomes a hit!
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
When I became a mom for the first time I wished there had a been a resource for me like this one. Many times we go places and while there, I will learn about how I could have gotten a coupon code to save money, or that you could bring in a snack and water to save money.
That was the driving force behind me creating these pages to help others learn from my mistakes.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal through all of this is to always help people. My family jokes when we go out to eat that before they can take a bite to eat I need to snap a picture for the post, but I remind them it may help someone decide what or where to eat. There is nothing greater than a business opening and them messaging you that my post brought in new cusotmers.
Atlanta is such a great place to live and there is so many hidden places to eat or visit and I love helping people learn about them or even learn about a new small business. Word of mouth is the best PR for any place and social media helps that many times!
