We recently connected with Deaveone Womack and have shared our conversation below.
Deaveone, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, do you think you started your business at the right time? Do you wish you had started sooner or later
I started my business back in 2019 but in 2017 I wanted to sell hair for the longest still something I want to do. I wish I could’ve started sooner honestly. I’m not upset that I didn’t though because if I didn’t experience all of what I went through I wouldn’t had discovered my love for hair. I will say this if I could change anything I would’ve just never gave up on myself when I had doubts or even allowing my insecurities to become louder.

Deaveone, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well my name is Deaveone I’m very introverted. I’ve always loved any form of art since I was a kid I would create stories, draw cartoon characters all the time and I would even practice hairstyles on my Barbie dolls. As I was getting older I was always in a hair salon, watching hair videos and trying new things. The moment I did someone else hair it suddenly clicked that this was it for me. The service I provide is clips ins, tape ins, silk-press, traditional sew-ins and quick weaves. Washing services is steam treatments and a hydrated wash. I’m most proud of me figuring out what is it that makes me me. I’m proud that I can be able to allow other people to feel beautiful especially on the days they don’t or simply just being able to be present and appreciating the client for choosing me. It’s not easy I’m still new to everything but with belief I know one day everything will fall into place for me.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In business what I had to unlearn was thinking everyone is going to support you. Because I figured that since I’m supportive everyone around me or even people who see my post would support but it’s not true. It can discouraging very discouraging its been moments where I wanted to stop completely because of the lack of support. But even with the lack of support I had to tell myself if you don’t believe in yourself why would you think they will?

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Posting reels and consistently posting now in all honesty I could do better it can annoying constantly posting. Especially if you’re not getting someone everyday so you have repost old videos and pictures. But even old videos and pictures people noticed and I always had to check and see when everyone was active the most
