We caught up with the brilliant and insightful DeAuntay/Wayne Seymour a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
DeAuntay/Wayne, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made (either in terms of time or money)? (Note, these responses are only intended as entertainment and shouldn’t be construed as investment advice)
Wayne: the best investment for me I will say it is the camera that DeAuntay and I both share. I feel like that’s the best and this man because it allows us to be creative. It allows us to document our lives and our struggles in to share this amazing love that we both share for one another. So I do believe that the camera that we have is definitely one of the best investments I could’ve ever spent a dollar on.
DeAuntay: Like Wayne said, the camera is for sure the best investment we’ve made. While it allows us to record and share our lives on social media with the world, it also serves as a memory keeper. I’m all about photos and videos to capture moments and to be able to keep them forever means a lot to me. We first got the camera to embark on our YouTube and content creating journey. At first we thought about just using our iPhones, but we made the joint decision that a camera would be more helpful to document. Since then, I think of the camera as more than a tool used for content creating. Documenting moments, both big and little, have made me realize the importance of the camera and how it was one of the best decisions we’ve made.
DeAuntay/Wayne, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Wayne: What up guys! My name is Wayne Seymour. I go by Wayne or Weezy. I am a social media influencer. I basically provide my supporters with my real life journey. This includes accomplishments, set backs and most importantly the love I have for DeAuntay. As you know same sex relationships often are criticized so I made it a mission to provide other same sex couples the safe space that they definitely deserve to be themselves. I am big on sharing our relationship journey in hopes of inspiring someone to live in their truth.
DeAuntay: Hey everyone! My name is De’Auntay Lisenbee or D for short. I began my social media adventure around 2020. Since then, I met Wayne and mine, as well as his, socials began to grow even more! We basically share with our followers our experiences and how we’ve learned to deal with them or which products we’re using in order to make our lived easier. I’m so proud of the way that we’ve grown together in order to make not only our relationship, but our brand grow tremendously. We look to promote an example of being a part of the LGBT community in order to show that it’s okay to be who you are and people will love and accept you for who you are no matter who you love.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Wayne: The most rewarding aspect of being a creative for me is simply having the opportunity to share what I go through on a personal level. I think it is important for representation to be a thing on social media because a lot of people do not have role models. A lot of people do not have people that look like them displayed to them so I think that having the platform that we have allows us to make others feel safe in their own skin in their own lives. Overall just think it is important for DeAuntay and I to display our love and to display our struggles with the rest of the world because he can truly change someone’s entire perspective which I think is beautiful.
DeAuntay: Being creative is one of the most important forms of expression to me. I am a very expressive person especially when it comes to something I care about. The most rewarding thing is seeing people actually take inspiration and interest. I love to influence people and give them the real results and opinions coming directly from me. I think our mission from the start was to show and teach people in a way. That’s been the most rewarding to me. We receive several messages from our supporters on how we’ve inspired them to do many things and that means the most to me.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Wayne: I think long-term the goal for me personally is to ride this thing out as far as it allows me. What I mean by that is simply being able to take our relationship take our struggles main stream. To have it broadcasted to millions of people so that we can hopefully change the stigma that is associated with same-sex relationships.
DeAuntay: The goal for me is to grow both mentally and spiritually. There’s so much to learn in the world and I believe sharing our journey growing as individuals is extremely important and not shown enough through influencers. I want our end goal to be that you can be who you are and still be an inspiration to a lot of people.
