We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Deanna Smith a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Deanna, thanks for joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
My business started with a lot of flow. Years ago, when I was still acting, I was hustling and looking for ways to make money as I was newly divorced, and had a young child at the time. I fell into being a dating coach, and I had a lot of fun doing that I was taking my clients through this transformation that was happening in just a few months. Looking back, I was taking them through an embodiment process and this was foreshadowing as to what my coaching would be years later. I wasn’t ready in my own life at the time to build a business but once I had the stability in my own life, the coaching just started happening happening, very organically. I had some people reflect to me that I was a coach. I had some people ask for sessions. I start at a women’s group. Once I made the decision that I was doing it, then I started to get regular clients and referrals and from there it was iterating and getting clearer on what I want to talk it to look like. Playing with the frame, noticing what worked and didn’t work in terms of the frame and refining in that way. In order to launch, I really just needed to make the decision and believe in the possibility
Deanna, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I hope my clients step into the version of reality that they want to experience. I support them in stepping into the version of them self that is already living in what they want to live in. I do this in a lot of ways. This is a process everybody meant. We’re working with, the blueprint made in early life and meeting at different points along the timeline in order to heal and come from a place of wholeness. I’m also seeing me on the defense is that they present me to the most powerful version of them I can see and reflecting that back to them. Essentially, I am meeting them in the new reality and welcoming them to step into it and meet me there. It’s a process of transforming the old stuck energy into the possibility. It’s a process of creating familiarity with the version of them self they want to be experiencing in the world and this is a visceral process. We’re constantly tuning into what that possibility is how it lives in the body and changing the programming, changing the thoughts to support the new version of them self. As ethereal is, this can sound we always get down to the tangibles as well. So it’s not just a theory I’ll talk. It’s actually becomes very practical with real steps that the client can take.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
By far my most effective strategy for growing my clientele along with creating my reputation has been to support my clients in having massive transformations. My business has been built on referrals and word-of-mouth, and the most powerful thing that I can do is to continue to support my clients and having these wildly transformative experiences.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been through current client referrals and communities in which I show up.
