Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to DeAnn Jones. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
DeAnn, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope to leave a legacy of capturing moments and memories creatively. I want to capture the little and big moments in life in a way people want them to be remembered. Often, photographs can look alike or not be unique. I hope to create images that people see as one of a kind and they can share with friends and family for years to come.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have been a photographer since elementary school taking pictures of my pets as a kid. I took photography classes in high school and fell deeper in love with the art. In college, I created my own minor in photography. My sport photography career specifically took off as I began shooting for a company ProSwim visuals taking photos of swimmers competing. I have expanded photography to portraits, action, pets, landscape, abstract and more. I am most proud of the different avenues I’ve taken in photography and the wonderful moments I’ve captured for countless individuals and families.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
I used to be a competitive swimmer myself for 18 years. One day in college, I received an email that a sports photographer was looking for an assistant at a local swim meet and jumped at the opportunity. I started as an assistant and currently am a staff photographer for the company now.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Word of mouth is a huge way to reach potential clients. When people enjoy a product or service, they recommend it to other people which helps build business.
