We were lucky to catch up with Deandra Brunson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Deandra, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
The most important thing I learned is what not to do. I learned how I wanted to be treated and how to treat clients. I watched my former boss try to walk all over us and allow clients to do the same. She didn’t have our backs or stand us for us when it was time. I learned, how to stay on top of things and be organized. I learned to take care of myself first so I can be my best for the business.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into this industry through my love for makeup. I wanted to know more about brows and skin, so I went through the process to get my esthetician’s license. Because of my passion I have always been fully dedicated to becoming better and being the best I could be. I constantly watched and learned from others to perfect my craft. To learn what works for me and what doesn’t. What works for clients and what doesn’t. I currently offer waxing and facial services. Because of my own struggles, I have learned and perfected my ways of helping clients fix and grow their eyebrows. What truly sets me apart is my passion for helping people grow their eyes brows. I have been told numerous of times no one has bothered to help. I take the time to talk to my clients and figure out what their goals are and their desires to help make that come true. I map out my clients shape and show them before I do anything to give them reassurance they are getting the shape they want. I take the time to figure out a brow routine and help them stick to it in order to achieve the results they want. I am so proud of how far I have come in my career, how much I have grown as a brow artist, formulating a brow oil that’s works but won’t break the bank. Behind my work is true passion to help clients love their natural features.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I noticed that most new people would be a little nervous or scared because of a pre bad experience. What I did was think about what would make me feel better if I was them. I gave my clients reassurance. I asked questions, I exalted their brows, I mapped out their shape and showed them what their potential shape would look like. This not only made them feel better but it also allowed them to trust me. I took my time and I did great work. Because of this it helped build my reputation for working my magic, as my clients would say !
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for new clients has been referrals from my existing clients. As well as all the great reviews my client leave on Google or social media. A referral is the best way to gain a new client in my experience.
