Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dean Miller. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Dean, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
I’ve signed my life around, only doing what I love. As I get older, I am more and more grateful for the opportunity to make a living. Doing exactly what I wanna do.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born into the entertainment business. My father was the late Roger Miller. I studied acting in college. I moved to Nashville to be a singer and songwriter. I’ve had multiple record deals, songs, recorded by many well-known artists, and I know produce music for other people. I also invented the method of dog training that only I teach.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I lost my third record deal, I also lost my Publishing deal, Manager, agent, etc. No one wants to work with you on the other side of a failed record deal. I decided I had to find something. I loved as much as music to get me through. I invented a method of dog training. So, even though producing is half of the way, I make a living, I never give up the dogs. They sustain me and I owe them so much.
