Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dayveonne Bussey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Dayveonne thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I would have to say when I was 8 years old. I always wanted to be aactor. I would reenact some of my favorite movies (like home alone, die hard, and so on). I love Critique certain films as well.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Dayveonne S. Bussey is an Actor, Producer, Writer and Mixed Martial Artist, born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. Dayveonne can be seen on the Sci-Fi Action series Body Jumpers: Resurrection and Award winning Martial Arts/ Horror Feature Film “Lyco” and “Manhunt”. He interned with Power 105.1 FM in the Promotions Department and with 107.5 WBLS FM in the Production Department. He was also a DJ for Kean University radio station WKNJ-FM. Dayveonne has been a motivational speaker for elementary graduation’s and scholarship formals in his community. He’s part of different Film Committees like Newark International Film Festival (Newarkiff), Golden Door International Film Festival (GDIFF), and Khem Animation Film Festival.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2015, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. That put a halt to my career. I had to take a break from pursuing my goals and dreams in acting. It was tough building myself back up. No one was willing to give me a chance until I met Blake Zawadzki (director) and Franklin Correa (director). These guys gave me an opportunity, and I ran with it. I also became a well-known film producer thanks to Blake and Franklin. I’m apart of different film festivals, like the Golden Door Film Festival run by Bill and Michele Sorvino, Newarkiff run by Kenneth Gifford, and Khem Animation Film Festival run by Nassed Gifted. I would like to thank them a lot for giving me the opportunity.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes. My goal or mission is to be a major player in the entertainment industry. Also, I want to help those who want to be an Actor, Producer, or Director. So they can get an idea on how the industry works.
