We were lucky to catch up with Daysy Rodriguez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daysy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?
Well a have a lot of beautiful stories, but this one is the most recent: Even with adversities like Covid-19, war, inflation and lack of workers, this story has a beautiful ending and proof again that if we have GOD as a partner and love what you do, we all can shine. Before Covid we were cleaning the residence of a construction company owner and they we’re happy with our services. Then Covid hit and they ask us not to clean for precautionary reasons. One day this client contacted me and asked me if we were interested in performing construction cleaning and janitorial services for Yates construction? They are starting a large project in Alcoa, Tennessee building an Amazon fulfillment center. I was so excited to work on such a big project and started jumping and crying of happiness. I felt so honored when he told me that my company was a perfect fit for this project. I promised him that we would show up every day and work hard and with excellence.
It’s been 14 months working with Yates and I can honestly say that our outstanding work ethic, walk the extra mile, do everything with love, has proven to be the best recommendation letter. We have since been asked to perform additional services on this development which will require many man hours. I know my strong and my weakness and that’s why I asked two successful business men to join me in this next phase of the project which requires us to clean the 1.5 million square feet of warehouse space. Our new company is named Providence Commercial Cleaning Solutions and we now we have 40 full time employees, all the necessary machinery to perform after construction cleaning for large buildings. We have the resources to go anywhere in the United States and perform construction cleaning services.
GOD is good.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Who is Daysy Rodríguez? I was born in El Salvador and I came to the US over twenty years ago with my now ex-husband. I came to study in an American university and in search of the American dream. Some years later my life was shattered when my husband left me and our daughter. Fortunately, thanks to the TPS for Salvadorians, I was able to remain legally in this great country.
It was a very difficult time because in a matter of seconds I had lost my family and became single mom. Without a dime in a foreign country it was very difficult. I ended up homeless, drug addicted and an alcoholic. I was lost and didn’t know how to get myself back on track. On October 21st, 2009 I had an encounter with God. I was invited to a Christian group and that day I let my old self die and I chose to be reborn. I let God take control of my life and started serving Him. Everything I started doing from that day on I was doing for Him and then suddenly everything started changing for me. I left all my addictions and was able to see my path clearly ahead.
My father is a businessperson and I believe I got my passion for business from him. I started my cleaning business and quickly had so many customers that I couldn’t take care of by myself. I hired personnel and formally organized my business to be able to take in bigger accounts. I was super excited when I was able to get the contracts with Real Estate and design companies, NBA, NFL and MLB players and retired players, Hollywood actors, musicians, and wealthy families in the Miami area. I was then contacted to be in two seasons of Real Housewives of Miami with Lisa Hochstein and my testimony was aired on national TV. At that moment, I owned five businesses in Miami.
The reason I ended up in Knoxville is because I found the love of my life. I married a Tennessee guy and I decided to expand my business here in Knoxville. I can tell you guys that GOD is good and His timing is perfect. Knoxville and East Tennessee has proven prosperous and is flowing with milk and honey for my business. It’s been two years since I opened here. Once again, we are working for a well know personalities and well-known businesses large and small. throughout the greater Knoxville area.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
As I said before, I ended up homeless and without a penny and was going down a path that I wouldn’t wish for anyone to go down. I didn’t need a lot of money to get started really. I began with $50 in cleaning supplies and a good friend gave me a vacuum as a present to help me get started. That first year I made $50,000, the following year $75.000, the next year six figures and it continues to grow. I truly believe the secret to my success is treat your clients like you want to be treated and your business will prosper and thrive.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
We have gotten new clients in various ways. We have done some advertising in local magazines and on social media, but I have to say the best source of new clients is mouth to mouth!! We do a great job for our new clients and eventually they tell their friends and family and next thing you know we are doing multiple jobs in the same neighborhood and end up providing service for their companies. The main goal at my company is to help our clients with their unique needs and make them happy. Believe me is nothing more gratifying to read their messages of gratitude for what you did to help them unconditionally.
Lastly, I now know that my life experiences (both good and bad) have taught me many things. The most important thing I learned is that God is always with me, always there for me and will always provide for me. I truly believe that my success comes from fervent prayer, counting my blessings, learning to forgive and forget and always putting God first.
