We were lucky to catch up with Dayna Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dayna, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?
I’ve actually posted about this on Facebook but I’m so grateful to this person I want more to know how they made me feel. I met this young lady through a mutual friend. 2007 I think it was Let me say she saw something in me from when we met and she really showed that! I’ve had several businesses and she supported all of them. I’m crying as I’m typing this.. but it’s like we don’t talk everyday don’t visit like friends or nothing just Social media really. IShe is the one who originally got me the first interview with you all. Man it’s hard trying to explain this because I’m typing not speaking if that makes sense and the way my mind works (adhd) I’m all over the place LITERALLY. My family and long close friends not even have gone hard for me like she has and it’s like she my angel on earth TRUST ME! I fight depression from being widowed and just her being there saying good things all the time about me behind my back says a lot and I just want to Thank you for making me feel like I’m really somebody! As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Dayna Thomas of PNL Construction Company! I’m a mother of 3 and glam ma of 1. I’m widowed of almost 4 years now. I’m an retired army brat my mom did 21 years of service in the army. Growing up was awesome! I watched my mom be a kick ass soldier! And as for me I’m a hard hat steel toed boot wearing tool belt waisted construction queen! Are you surprised? My mom is the reason I knew I could be in a mostly male field. So many women (me I’m women) have men that can’t even change a tire let alone install a house door. I did a lot of self taught stuff because I didn’t have a handyman. I been on this ride 3 years now and I love it! Home improvements and commercial construction is LIFE!! I’m the woman’s eye in this business and I always Execute. My day starts with emails, voicemail, then phone calls. From there scheduling of customers wanting estimates. Hop in my truck and off we go!! I have my girly tool bag (pink) my tools have pink trim as well. Yes I’m girly lol. I enjoy what I do! Even the cuts, Bruises, falling, and getting dirty. Honestly I do this for a great living and all my customers who appreciate great skilled long lasting work. We provide… Any home improvements you need from inside your home and out. Also at your businesses. There’s nothing we don’t do I like to call us a full servicing construction company no job too big or small we got you!! ~PNL
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
It all started with my income tax return. Yep I invested the whole thing into my business. I had fair enough credit so I also used that as well and got my work truck. Then my business license, insurance, tools, logo, domains, cards, sign, hired a lead system (home advisor), and went from there. As I made better income I got more tools and hired more crew members.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I lost my husband September 2018. January 2019 I started my business. With so much heartache I had to keep busy busy and every home I worked on was keeping me at ease. I had to go on I had to go on I HAD TO GO ON! So much was going on within me as I stayed focused and wanted to see others smile off the great job we did on their homes. Whole time my home was broken. I gave tlc to others to replace the tlc I lost. It makes me feel good!
