We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dayejon Golston Haskin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dayejon below.
Dayejon , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to provide high quality work at a decent price. Additionally, I also want show family, friends & my employees that there is another way in life, you don’t always have to always go to college to be successful. Also, I want to show the youth you don’t have to be in the streets either. I went through a program that helped at risk youth so I want to do the same. When my team and I was building a deck, I had a troubled teen come up asking if I needed help and if he could work. I could tell he wanted to become different and a better person; I invited him to do light work around our site while we finished up. I do believe after working with us, he had a better mindset to use for the future.

Dayejon , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got started in the industry growing up I was always good with my hands. When my grandma passed she told me to do something good with my hands then, when I got to high school my dad convinced me to join the construction program that they had. At first, I wasn’t listening but then when the opportunity came, I took advantage of it. Once I finished high school I got into trade school where I was working for a general contractor teaching me everything, and once I completed that I branched out and started my own business and been thriving ever since.

We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Starting off I used to work for a union general contractor while I was doing my apprenticeship. It stared off as just little jobs here & there, working most of them after my 9-5 and also working weekends. Then the jobs kept getting bigger & bigger and needed more of my time and it got to the point where I couldn’t handle both and the side hustle started making me more than the main. That’s when it became my full-time career.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation was word of mouth.Starting off, I never really did any advertising or marketing for my business, it was just basically people I’ve done work for referring me to other people. Once my business progressed, I then partnered with Home Depot Pro Referral and that’s currently where most of my leads come from now.
