We recently connected with Dayanitsa Mauricia and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dayanitsa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Getting that first client is always an exciting milestone. Can you talk to us about how you got your first customer who wasn’t a friend, family, or acquaintance?
I just started my business and could not afford a website yet. All my promotions were going through Facebook and Instagram. I was already selling bundles for a while and had recently started making wigs. After posting pictures on Facebook of my first wig that I created to sell, a lady responded. She loved the wig and wanted to make a purchase. At that moment I got super scared and all my confidence just went out of the door. I was thinking about all kinds of negative scenarios that could happen and did not want to sell the wig anymore.
After talking with my friend and calming down. I went to Walmart to pick up a shipping box and tissue paper. By that time I could not afford U-line or custom made boxes yet. I wrapped the wig nicely and shipped it out to my first customer. When she finally received the wig and mentioned how happy she was, I was able to relax again. Selling my first wig ever as a self taught wig maker definitely was a huge accomplishment.


Dayanitsa, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Dayanitsa Mauricia, I have been 25 for the last 9 years and I was born in the Netherlands. I currently live in Miami, I’m a dog mom, I love food and traveling.
After coming back from a 7 month trip in Miami I decided not to work for a boss anymore. Hair has always been one of my interests and Be unbeweaveable was launched in 2014. Before starting the business, I visited India to find the best hair quality. It was an intensive trip full of obstacles but worth it. In the back of a small Tuk Tuk I travelled with my partner through India for 10 days.
Be unbeweaveabIe provides Authentic Raw Indian Hair and custom wigs. I also teach Wig Master classes. In these Wig Master classes I teach ladies and men how to make wigs from scratch on a sewing machine. Besides this I also cater to Natural Hair Care. I created a Natural Hair Care Line that focusses on Afro American Hair. Since I find it very important that my customers know or else learn how to take care of their Natural Hair.
What problems do I solve?
I empower women by teaching them Wig making skills for personal or professional purposes. Many people have started or expanded their own business after following my Wig Master Class. Some students even teach Wig Master classes themselves. It is great giving back and seeing others thrive.
With my Medical Wigs and Natural Hair Care Line I give women their confidence back. There are many people that suffer from hair loss due to various reasons. It is wonderful that I’m able to create custom wig pieces based on their wishes. There is no better feeling, seeing customers being happy and confident again after receiving their wig.
For the people who do not have African American hair it might be difficult to understand. But many of us did not love our hair when we were younger and a lot of people even struggle today. I personally hated doing my hair since it was very painful. I was brainwashed into getting a relaxer, thinking that would make my life better. It s crazy to think that as a 9 year old, I could not wait to get chemicals in my hair. Chemicals that would permanently damage my hair and could also harm my health. With my Natural Hair Care line I educate others on how to take care of their hair so that nobody has to use a relaxer anymore out of frustration.
What sets you apart?
It sets me apart that I believe in integrity, I only sell products that I believe in and personally use. I only sell Raw Indian Hair because I have been in India and can back up my products. I would need to visit the country first, to consider selling any other type of hair.
What are you most proud of?
I’m very proud of the fact that I sell Authentic Raw Indian Hair and that I have been back to the source. Not many people who start a hair business actually travel to the country of origin to do research, and to be sure about the products and quality they are selling.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Providing the best customer service and clear communication, have definitely helped building my reputation. Nothing is worse than buying from a company and not being satisfied about the product or being left in the dark after the purchase. Me and my customer service team always try to be on top of everything. We also try to be as clear as possible in the product description to avoid any surprises.
I love coming live on Social Media to engage with my followers. On my Youtube channel you can find several educative tutorials. I spend a lot of time creating these tutorials to make sure my customers get the best education on maintaining their hair. In this way my customers will enjoy every purchase to the fullest.
We also try to ship out orders the same or next day, since everybody would love to receive their order as soon as possible. We always try to make sure the customer feels confident in asking any questions before a purchase, so they know exactly what to expect. If there is a delay or anything else that is important we inform our customers as soon as possible. When creating custom wigs I always keep my customers up to date throughout the whole process and the wig won’t be shipped out until my customer is completely satisfied.
When it comes to the Wig Master Classes I always take my time. Some students take more time than others but they won’t leave until they are confident and learned all necessary skills.
When it comes to the Natural hair Care Kit I always offer a complimentary hair consult. In this hair consult customers can ask more questions and we also develop a hair care schedule, since consistency is key.



Any fun sales or marketing stories?
I organized a party in ‘1nul8’ Rotterdam, to launch my hair business Be unbeweaveable.
Since I did not have a huge budget, I visited several stores in the city center to ask for items to place in my goodie bag. A lady from the ICI Paris agreed to do Make-up and Salem (Hair by Jerusalem), a good friend of mine, came over to do the hair of all visitors.
My brothers were helping in the wardrobe and served Cake pops.
A friend of my sister was so nice to make pictures.
Proud fact:
my white dress, linen bags and all tablecloths were made by my mother.
