We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dawn Stevens. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dawn below.
Hi Dawn, thanks for joining us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I hope to be known as someone who created space for others to be seen, heard, and valued. That’s the driving force behind the podcast studio I’m opening in the northwest metro—a place where people can rent professional sets and walk away with high-quality video and audio content that helps them share their message with the world. My legacy, I hope, is one of connection—bringing people together through storytelling and helping positive, life-changing messages reach the audiences who need them most.
Dawn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey started in 2000 after graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in broadcast journalism. I spent over two decades in television news, and in 2006, I made Minneapolis my home. By 2010, I was anchoring the morning newscast in the Twin Cities—an incredible role that allowed me to enter homes each day and share the news that shaped people’s lives. I loved telling stories that mattered and helping people feel seen, heard, and informed.
In 2022, I stepped away from TV news. It was a leap of faith, but one guided by purpose. For seven years prior, my husband and I had been quietly running a side business—Linden Group Productions—where we filmed videos for small businesses and nonprofits. That side hustle is now growing into a full-time mission.
In the summer of 2025, we’re launching the Minnesota Podcast & Content Studio, a space built for businesses, creators, and entrepreneurs who want to share their message through high-quality video and audio. Our studio will feature multiple podcast sets with different themes, tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of industries. We make it simple: clients walk in, sit down, and we handle all the production. No technical stress—just storytelling made easy.
What sets us apart is the combination of our on-camera expertise and our behind-the-scenes production skills. We’ve spent years helping people feel confident on camera and capturing their stories in ways that resonate. I’m incredibly proud of the faith and perseverance my husband showed in getting us here, and of the trust we’ve built with the clients we serve.
At the heart of it all, we love what we do. We believe every story matters, and we’re honored to help people share theirs with clarity, confidence, and impact.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
At the heart of everything I do is a deep belief in the power of storytelling to build bridges. My goal is to bring people from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life together by giving them a space to share their truth. When we take the time to listen to each other’s experiences—what drives us, what challenges us, what we hope for—we create understanding, and with that understanding comes empathy.
I believe the world becomes a better, more connected place when we stop assuming and start learning from one another. That’s what fuels my creative journey: using media and storytelling to break down barriers, elevate underrepresented voices, and help people feel seen, valued, and heard.
We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
I met my business partner—who also happens to be my husband—at a bar in downtown Minneapolis called Banana Joe’s back in 2001. He asked me to dance, and not only was he a great dancer, but we ended up having amazing conversations that continued long after that night.
Years later, our daughter, at just six years old, decided she wanted to be a YouTube star. My husband’s interest in video production grew as he picked the camera to help bring her vision to life. What started as filming fun family videos quickly became a passion. He taught himself the craft, honed his skills, and eventually launched our video production company. That moment of creativity and connection with our daughter turned into the foundation of the business we now run together.
