We were lucky to catch up with Dawn Sadler recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dawn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
My mission is to give the ultimate customer satisfaction to every client that comes to me for service. I strive to provide a clean, stress free salon and one-on-one personal appointment. My business is not just a Hair business to me. It’s a ministry it’s a place where clients are able to relax release any stress that is going on in their lives. I am a woman of faith and sometimes it’s not always about the money. I have clients that may need assistance due to their circumstances, but sometimes we have to be a blessing in return, God has blessed me over the years and my passion has always been serving and making them feel their best.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
As a little girl, I have always loved doing hair so much that I used to style and cut my dolls hair. That desire led me to go to school at Virginia Farrell and get my cosmetology license 36 years ago. My business is all about healthy hair having the right products for each client is important. I use multiple products based on the individuals hair. My favorite is a black owned product design essentials. I also use a practice of steaming one’s hair which it replenishes the follicles. I take pride in servicing my clients which allows them to feel good about themselves. I like to consider myself as more than just their hairstylist, but a friend and confidant. Each individual has their own timeslot where it’s just the two of us which allows them to feel safe. I believe this is what makes my business great.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I’m my career I’ve had to pivot and go into business by myself. The first move was a learning experience, the different aspects of the business also the character of people that only had their best interests at heart. When the pandemic happened and after the quarantine, I had to make another business move in order to adjust to our new normal. There are times in our lives that we have to make a decision according to the level we are at in our career. I still can’t believe it’s been 36 years. I had the pleasure of being my mother’s caregiver and still work. So again another pivot in my career. My mother passed away this past summer. So now that I am returning from being off a few months and my clients have returned. I am reinventing myself once again.
