We were lucky to catch up with Dawn Perry recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Dawn, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

I was trying to find something to do with my life that was fulfilling to my soul. I love to camp, so I was looking in that area of businesses. A mobile glamping company based in Oregon was for sale and said it was relocatable and it literally put a twinkle in my eyes and heart. This was my own traveling campground in a beautiful area, with not as large of an investment as a campground. I love making people smile and being creative and thought this would be perfect to be my own boss and put my own flare and good vibes out into the universe. Unfortunately, life took a twist and I wasn’t able to purchase the business at that time. Not 2 years later on my own, I decided to pour every assets I had into building my own glamping business in Northeast Ohio. I did research and there were no other glamping companies in the area yet. Not long after deciding to start the business my mother Sandi Butler and one of my best friends Rhonda Webb wanted to invest in the company as well. The three of us have been running the business for just a little over a year now. We have had a lot of good feedback and we are still trying to get our name out there as many still do not know that we exist.
AND as of December my mother , Sandi butler and myself purchased some property in the middle of wine country to be able to set our glamping tents up on and Airbnb them out. We had so many inquiries this past year for people wanting to stay in the tents in Geneva, Ohio. They did not have property or a campsite for us to set them up on. So we started looking and we found a diamond in the rough. Still in the process of cleaning her up but we are getting closer every day to her transformation.
We plan on having a soft opening for the 2024 Solar Eclipse to bring some good energy in and introduce her. Stay tuned for the rest of the story…. ;)

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

If you want to lead a team you need to be not only willing to do what you ask of them but have good energy. No one wants to be under a sourpuss.. Set the stage for success and treat your peeps with respect.

Gypsy Livin has a Facebook page, website and we distribute literature at local businesses. Honestly, word of mouth is GREAT! Keeping in contact during a transaction/sale, I text/email/phone. Whatever the client prefers I try to accommodate.
We do not send reoccurring emails or anything like that out yet.
Gypsy Livin doesn’t want to get annoying to our people. Maybe someday we will have something for those that choose to receive that sort of thing.
