We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dawn McGinnis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dawn below.
Alright, Dawn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
My defining moment was when I decided to leave the safety of a W-2 job, and take a chance, a chance on myself. When you grow up, you’re always encouraged to play it safe because that’s what’s predictable, or average. I knew I didn’t want to be average or to be someone who didn’t make an impact on others. I’ve always been in love with health and fitness, but more of the physical side of things. With being a personal trainer and helping others achieve their fitness goals, I realized that I could also help individuals and families protect those goals. This led me to finding my passion in guiding others in their health coverage journey. No one ever expects to go in to the doctor and find out they have cancer, or no one expects to have a bad fall and break a bone. These things happen, and knowing that I help provide peace of mind to others, is the best reward. Health insurance is something we’re all suppose to have, yet so few know much about it. I pride myself on being able to learn my clients situation, and provide the necessary solution. Helping other people every day, is my defining moment.

Dawn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I achieved my Health & Life license in Florida, and have now expanded to over 33 states! I help business owners, self employed individuals, teachers, nurses, anyone and everyone I can with their health insurance. I have over 400 clients who are all across the world, and that’s pretty amazing if you ask me!
The biggest thing I want others to know about my company is that, I care! I have great connections with my clients and feel like I truly know them. You have to know a client well to know how to help them, especially with something as sensitive as health insurance.
I am most proud for being awarded the HOPE award and Beacon Award for my business, as well as other certificates for those I’ve been able to help. The main thing I want whoever reading this to know is that, you don’t have to do it alone

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I think the ability to genuinely care to help others is most helpful for succeeding in my field! If you help others, everything else will fall in to place
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Reading in general helps my entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. I highly recommend these books; The Four Agreements, Atomic Habits, Can’t Hurt Me, and The Success Principles.
