We were lucky to catch up with Dawn (Dawnie) Fultz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dawn (Dawnie), thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I spent most of my life struggling to find my place in the world — Trying, falling short, starting over… searching for something steady, something that felt like mine.
Then I met my husband, Dusty.
A love that listened, supported, and stayed.
He became the quiet strength behind me — the hands that never let go.
And he gave me the nickname Dawnie.
With that name came Dawnie & Co. — and I started building.
Building a business, a legacy, and a life rooted in love, hard work and beauty.
& Co. is my family — every person who’s shaped me, stood beside me, and given me something to fight for.
Dawn (Dawnie), love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m Dawn Fultz, the founder and creative force behind Dawnie & Co.—a luxury event styling and design company based in rural Ohio. My work blends artful design with intentional storytelling, creating events that are both visually stunning and emotionally meaningful.
My journey into this industry started long before I ever had a business name. As a single mother, I found joy (and a little extra income) by creating and selling beautiful pieces. Over time, my passion for creating evolved into something much bigger—designing entire spaces, celebrations, and moments that make people feel something.
I can do what I do because of the legacy I carry—from the tender love of my mother, who hand-stitched my costumes with care, to the quiet strength of my father, who could build anything with grit and precision. I carry the best of both: her heart, his hands, and a vision all my own.
Dawnie & Co. was born out of love for beauty and meaning. We specialize in elevated event styling—from weddings to showers to proposals and milestone celebrations. What sets us apart is not just what we do, but how we do it. Every event is approached with a heart for service and a deep desire to create something unforgettable. I’m proud to say that we bring a level of artistry and intentionality to rural communities that often don’t have access to luxury event design—and we do it with soul.
I believe in beautiful things with purpose. I believe luxury is about care, detail, and how people feel in a space. My favorite part of what I do is watching someone step into a moment we’ve created and feel instantly seen, celebrated, and loved.
What I want people to know about Dawnie & Co. is this: we don’t just decorate events—we honor stories. We turn visions into experiences. And we believe that no matter where you are, your moment deserves to be magical.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Honestly, my reputation has been the most powerful part of growing Dawnie & Co.—and it’s not just local. While I’m based in rural Ohio, I’ve styled events in surrounding cities, and worked with clients across different regions. That kind of trust doesn’t come from one event—it comes from showing up with consistency, care, and a deep love for what I do.
I think what’s helped me build such a strong reputation is that I never treat this as just a job. I treat it as a calling. Every event is personal to me, and I put my whole heart into making it unforgettable. I don’t cut corners. I don’t overpromise. I over-deliver—with intention and warmth every time.
In a small-town market, people talk. Word travels. And I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have clients and venues speak so highly of their experience with me. That kind of organic growth is the most meaningful—and most sustainable—kind there is.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy I’ve used to grow Dawnie & Co. has been a mix of emotional connection and visual storytelling—especially through social media.
I’ve been intentional about showing people not just what I do, but how it feels to experience it. Every styled set I create tells a story—and when I share those stories online, it creates a connection. Potential clients can picture themselves in that moment. They want that feeling, not just that look.
Beyond visuals, I focus on delivering above and beyond for every client. I’m not here to just provide a service—I want my clients to feel taken care of, understood, and celebrated. That level of personalization leads to repeat clients, word-of-mouth referrals, and genuine loyalty.
In a luxury service business, people are investing not just in your talent, but in the experience you offer. So I make sure every interaction—from inquiry to tear-down—feels elevated, polished, and full of heart.
