We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Davon Maynard a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Davon, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

I have been working on my Latest Project Called Ratchet Romance. This is an urban fused Gospel of my heart, soul, and mind of how love, affects the way we see the world. I have been given the opportunity, to speak to many people all over the world. And with that type of reach, I knew that I had to make a difference in the way others feel love. We have all been Heart broken or in Deep water and when you learn to swim with the water you won’t worry about how it take you here or there. It’s not the destination but the journey.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Da’miricle A.K.A Big Glacier. I am a singer/songwriter , Graphic Artist , Producer and a social media influencer.
I am based out of Baltimore Maryland and have grown my fan base from hard work and dedication.
I begun music and graphic arts at the age of 11. Inspired by the great Bob Marley’s and 2pac I felt a dynamic change in my art.
I felt power but not self power, but a since of unity in power. I seen many people go down the same path losing their self to the world and to peer pressure that I had to step up and speak. Their are so many distractions in this world, and that led me to problems, problems I knew I had to face but also ones that I had to solve for others. This led me to my most proudest moment, “Kids in Courts”. I stand with judges and lawyers from Annapolis and Baltimore city to save the youth from violence and the strange fate of life. Seeing the impact I have on them led to me being the best artist I could ever be. “I couldn’t just be a miricle but Da’miricle”, not just for me but for the world.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

On April 30th, 2017 I lost my brother from gun violence in Baltimore City. On this day I was in the hospital because my spirit was hurting so much from life. I was young only 19 years old, and wanted to commit suicide. As I wanted to take my life my brothers life was taken. At this moment I knew I had to live not just for me but now for him. Shorty after his death I was incarcerated for attempted murder, all charges were later dropped but I allowed myself to be trapped, and stuck in the same cycle I swore not to go through. While incarcerated I was reincarnated into someone I always wanted to be but I wasn’t free. At Least not yet. I spent 5 years in prison on charges that were not mines but I was at fault for allowing myself to follow the wrong people. This gave me a since of power to change my life and mind by the second. “So now I live everyday, second to second not skipping over a single thing, but living and embracing every moment given unto me from God”.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

In life their are many lessons. Life is a lesson itself, but one lesson I had to unlearn is don’t believe everything that you hear.
People will tell you anything just to see you react. You cant let people distract you, because misery loves company and if you let it in, you will be in the companion of fools. Someone will see your self worth and want to destroy it every given second of the day because they are unhappy in their life. You need to build happiness in your life so high, that when people start picking away at the foundation you made, you will never fall. They say strength comes in unity but that is a lie, strength comes from within to build unity. I’ve had people hurt me just to feel better about their self and that is selfishness. Stay true to yourself and you wont have to believe everything you hear. Stay true to yourself and research everything you hear.
