We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful David Verburg . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with David below.
David , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My parents taught me the meaning of working for what you want.
I can recall a story when I was 10. I wanted a new bike. Instead of going out and buying me one. even though it would have been an easy purchase. Instead, they made me work for it. doing extra work around the farm to save up money and get the bike. this taught me patients and the value of working hard for what you want.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my Fitness consulting business Adiverb Performance out of a strong love for fitness. From Celebrity clients seeking to achieve peak physical fitness in preparation for their upcoming music tours. Special forces cadets diligently preparing themselves for the rigorous demands of the academy. Even corporations recognizing the importance of employee well-being by providing them with exclusive access to renowned trainers through our innovative online platform. Additionally, throughout the year, we organize pop-up running camps across the nation, aimed at enhancing running technique and instilling a sense of confidence in participants.
Driven by a profound passion for all things gold, I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey with the establishment of “BurgCo Jewelry.” From the very beginning, I have been captivated by the art of crafting custom jewelry, often experimenting and modifying pieces acquired from various sources. My sister, a seasoned gemologist with a decade-long tenure at Kay Jewelers, joined forces with me, combining her profound love for gems with my expertise in goldsmithing. Together, we birthed BurgCo Jewelry, a family-owned enterprise specializing in exquisite, handcrafted fine jewelry. With an unwavering commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and unparalleled customer service, we take immense pride in creating the majority of our pieces in-house.

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I took my love for jewelry and turned it into a business for my family. I was going to jewelers and others to get things made. only to take it and make my own changes in the end. So I decided I would start making jewelry for fun. People would request i make them something, So it slowlw rolled into a business.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
The best part is. I have known her my own life. Being in business with my sister Amy has been an amzing experience. she brings so much knowlege and experence. It makles it a family affair and I love that.
