David, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Let’s start with a fun one – what’s something you believe that most people in your industry (or in general) disagree with?
One of the biggest things I see pushed on social media, in ads, and stores is that a person with no training and knowledge can detail their cars like a professional with a cheap buffer, six random bottles of product, and some microfibers. It honestly blows my mind! I will admit that Auto Detailing has scientifically grown tremendously in the past five years. The new tools, buffers, and chemicals have entirely changed, but still, a person with no experience will never achieve the results of a true professional!
David, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is David-VDX, and I am a Master Automotive Detailer with over 20 years of experience in the industry. I entered the industry at a young age seeking good pay with no college degree. Year’s ago I thought that this was a short term job to make money while deciding what to pursue in college. As year’s went on I got good, really good and fast so I was able to detail a car quickly and efficiently enough to do several cars a day for large payouts. In fact, I was making more money than 90% of the people I knew that went to college and obtained a degree. So I stuck with it becoming a manager, trainer, and tester for a major automotive brand.
After 18 years in the industry working under another employer, I decided it was time to become my brand. Myself and my business partner are a dynamic duo! In short, you can get precise scheduling, detailed information about your services, remove and add services at the appointment time, and, best of all, at-home professional mobile detailing!

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Being a great manager takes real leadership. You are getting your hands dirty right alongside those that you manage. Providing them with next-level training and insight on how to take on the tasks they were hired for easily and efficiently. We show appreciation for our employees by offering great pay, paid lunches, bonuses, encouragement, and great healthcare benefits. We believe those who work for us don’t have to work underneath us but with us all together as one unit, a family if you will.
