We caught up with the brilliant and insightful David Price a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
David, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
I’m David Price, CEO of The Price Group, an insurance agency that has helped over 100,000 insurance professionals turn a license into a legitimate business.
Scaling The Price Group wasn’t a straight climb—it was a gritty, often uncomfortable ascent filled with trial, error, and evolution. I didn’t have a playbook when I started. What I had was a license, a relentless work ethic, and a vision to empower others to create freedom through entrepreneurship.
The Strategy: Build People, Not Just Sales
From day one, my goal wasn’t just to sell insurance—it was to teach others how to build businesses. The key strategy? Duplication. I knew if I could build a model that worked for me, I could teach others to replicate it.
We focused on three pillars:
Plug-and-Play Systems – I built onboarding and training frameworks that could turn someone with zero experience into a confident, producing agent within weeks.
Technology as a Lever – We embraced virtual platforms before they became the norm—Zoom, digital lead systems, CRM automations. That let us scale without borders.
Culture of Ownership – I stopped trying to manage everyone and instead focused on developing leaders. When your team takes ownership, your growth becomes exponential.
Twists and Turns
There were some key turning points:
I made the mistake of doing too much for too long. I tried to be the coach, the marketer, the recruiter, the tech guy. That kept us from scaling early on. Once I hired and empowered the right people, things took off.
The market changed—and so did we. Shifts in how people buy insurance forced us to reimagine our approach. We pivoted to digital outreach and built a virtual-first agency model before it was trendy.
I learned to value data over emotion. Instead of guessing, we tracked everything: call activity, appointment setting, close ratios. That let us coach smarter and scale faster.
The Most Meaningful Moment
There was a day when I looked at our roster and realized: we had agents winning in every time zone—and most of them I hadn’t personally trained. That was the moment I knew we had truly scaled. Not because of my hustle, but because of the system, the leadership, and the belief we had built into others.
The Real Talk
Scaling isn’t glamorous. It’s saying no to things that feel good in the moment but aren’t right long-term. It’s making tough calls. It’s failing forward—again and again. But if you commit to building people, not just profits, the payoff is legacy.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: You don’t scale by doing more—you scale by doing less better, and by helping others do the same.

David, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m David Price, CEO and Founder of The Price Group—one of the fastest-growing agencies in the insurance industry. I entered the field in 2018 with a laser focus on Final Expense Life Insurance. Within just 36 months of getting licensed, I became the fastest millionaire in the industry, depositing over $1 million into my bank account. By my fourth full year, I was earning over $1 million annually. But what’s most important to me is that I’ve used that success to create a system that helps others do the same.
At The Price Group, we help everyday people turn an insurance license into a business that works for them. Our model empowers agents to earn multi-six-figure incomes from the comfort of their homes, without prior industry experience. I firmly believe that with the right work ethic, anyone—regardless of profession or background—can create a six-figure income and change the trajectory of their lives.
What We Do
We provide life insurance solutions that protect families and futures, but our mission goes far deeper. We mentor and train aspiring agents, equipping them with simple, scalable systems and hands-on leadership. We’ve built a virtual-first model that makes business ownership more accessible than ever—and in doing so, we’ve helped over 100,000 people enter and grow in this industry.
What Sets Us Apart
What makes The Price Group different isn’t just our growth—it’s our culture. We lead with integrity, we mentor with heart, and we win by lifting others. I’ve personally mentored some of the most successful sales agents in the country, and our team is driven by one shared goal: impact.
What I’m Most Proud Of
Success is more than numbers—though we’ve seen plenty of those. What I’m proud of are the stories. The single mom who became her own boss. The veteran who built a team from scratch. The college dropout who found a calling. This isn’t just about insurance—it’s about changing lives through business.
What I Want You To Know
At The Price Group, we’re not just building an agency—we’re building a movement. If you’re hungry, coachable, and ready to work, we’ve got a system, a team, and a vision that can help you build more than just a career—you can build a legacy.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One story that really illustrates my resilience comes from my first year in the insurance industry. I had just left a steady job, chasing the promise of freedom and financial independence. I was motivated—but completely green. I didn’t come from sales, I had no formal business training, and I didn’t have a fallback plan. What I did have was a newborn baby, bills piling up, and a belief that this had to work.
I remember one specific week—I drove over 1,000 miles chasing leads, ran 30+ appointments, and made zero sales. Nothing. I had spent my last dollars on gas and motel rooms, eating fast food in my car, doubting everything. That Friday night, I sat in a parking lot staring at the steering wheel, questioning whether I had made a mistake.
But something inside me said, “If you quit now, you’ll never know what was on the other side of this.” So instead of giving in, I studied my calls. I broke down every conversation. I role-played in the mirror. And I promised myself that if I was going to fail, it wouldn’t be because I didn’t give 100%.
The very next week, I closed my first five-figure week in sales.
That moment taught me something I still carry today: success doesn’t show up because you’re talented—it shows up because you’re relentless. It’s easy to stay in the game when things are working. The real test is who you become when nothing is. That week didn’t just make me money—it made me a leader. And that resilience became the foundation for everything we’ve built at The Price Group.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
When I first started building my audience on social media, I wasn’t thinking about algorithms or virality — I was thinking about impact. I wanted to show people, especially those who felt stuck in 9–5 jobs or who didn’t see a clear path forward, that there was another way — and that someone who looked like them, talked like them, and came from where they came from could do it.
In the beginning, I started by sharing my story: the early grind, the setbacks, the small wins. I didn’t wait until I was “successful” to post — I posted in real time, even when I was in the trenches. That authenticity created connection. People didn’t just see the results; they saw the process.
As The Price Group grew, I doubled down on adding value: I shared strategies, scripts, mindset shifts — anything that could help someone else level up. I was consistent. I showed my face. I stayed human.
Now, we have a community of people who are not just watching — they’re building with us. Social media helped turn this from a career into a movement.
My advice to anyone starting out is this:
Don’t chase perfection. Post what’s real.
Be consistent — even when the likes are low.
Focus on helping, not flexing.
And always remember: your story is your superpower.
