David , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
As a kid that moved around a lot, I learned early on that art was currency in academic and social situations. I think I always understood creating things what I was proficient at. As a kinetic learner, sculpture has always been the most direct path for my creativity.
David , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I graduated from college with a degree in stop motion animation and a determination to create a body of work with the concept I had created using imagination narrative portraiture and found objects.
: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Repurposing found objects and materials is cornerstone to what I do. By including these objects in my work, I reassign value and purpose to the things discarded by society and nature. By combining them with imagination portraiture, a totem is created giving new life and power to what was once trash.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I feel like my life is my own. Every part of the creation of my work is by my own hands.
