We caught up with the brilliant and insightful David Lewis III a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
David , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I already had a feeling when I finished high school that I wanted to pursue something unique. Since childhood, I’ve always been the one who attracts attention, and people feel comfortable being themselves around me. This has always been a source of positivity and brightness in my life.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Well, I first discovered the world of podcasts through Million Dollaz Worth of Game. It really inspired me to enter the podcasting realm and use it as a platform to help others and reflect on life myself. It started off with my cousin, and I want to give them a shout-out because my family, especially, has been my biggest support system. Without them and the grace of God, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. But then, my brother Jeremiah Jacksun decided to give me an opportunity. He patiently introduced me to the art of podcasting, guiding me along the way. Working with him not only allowed me to grow as a podcaster but also as an individual. We now host a mental health podcast where we emphasize the uniqueness of each person’s story and the importance of prioritizing our mental well-being. We open up, sharing personal experiences, and letting everyone know that it’s perfectly okay to face challenges. With God’s presence, anything is possible. Ultimately, it’s less about the difficulties we encounter and more about the lessons we learn from them.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Our aim, as leaders in the industry, is to guide everyone through their mental health journey on our podcast. We want to help unlock the chains of mental health, allowing individuals to discover true happiness. It’s important to know that we all face difficult times in life, but there’s always a beacon of hope waiting to illuminate the path for the future generations. Together, let’s find that torch of hope and let it shine bright.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
One important thing to understand is that it’s not easy when you go against the flow and keep doing something different repeatedly. It brings hardships and disappointments, but the key is to stay focused and truly believe in what you’re doing. You should also understand that it will require hard work because in today’s world and society, nobody is going to hand you anything. It takes determination and a strong support system. For me, it’s my faith in God and my family that act as my anchor. You have to make sure you have a stable anchor that won’t waver.
