We were lucky to catch up with David Khasar recently and have shared our conversation below.
David, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
My creative career started right on time. From the time that I was in elementary school to me going to art school seeking higher education, I’ve always been creative but I didn’t tap into it until I started going to college. Not only did I learn how to become a music producer, I learned how to write scripts, I learned how to be a better actor. Most importantly, I found a way to tap into my creativity and inspriration and act on it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those that have no idea who I am…Hey how you living? My name’s David 2K. My journey with music started when I was a toddler, Singing in the children’s choir. When I was in fifth grade I learned how to play clarinet and played for 4 more years in school. The last year I played clarinet in school wasn’t great but I still don’t regret learning. I learned how to read music during that time and I as i grew in my muscical career. My overall mission in music is to change the world and as I grow in my abilities, I hope to not only network, encounter and experience music from a creator’s perspective.
I’ve been able to interview a few artists I admire like Kelechief, Ginga Soul, and Chazer11. Those two interviews mean a lot to me. I grew up watching shows like TRL & 106&Park where they got to interview artists and vibe with them.
I’m really proud of the things i’ve been able to do within my thirty years of life. With the podcasts, the music and everything I do is about impact…will you remember that we had a converstion about nothing the next time we run into each other? I’d hope so.
How did you build your audience on social media?
The way I built my following on social media is a combonation of loving music on an intimate level, late night questions and epiphanies when I should be asleep and getting dragged on social media for my opinion. It’s not a huge following and I’m okay with that. As long as you feel good about your social media presence, nothing else should matter.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
When I create or do something, all I want is for one person to be able to say, “I get it,” and actually be able to explain what i was trying to do. It’s happened a few times for me so it really warms my heart when that type of thing happens. It’s the feeling of validation. It’s important to feel heard.
