We recently connected with David Kabanda and have shared our conversation below.
David , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
In my personal experience; I believe that success is a sequence of a number of things. The ultimate litmus test to becoming successful is to be able to maintain discipline despite of your emotions. Being able to master your emotions and override those feelings and stresses that come from everyday life is the biggest key . As a by product of doing this you will be able to maintain discipline. This done over a period of time will then produce consistency .I learnt also that planning your week and days to the hour will allow you to master time management which is another key to becoming successful in your field . This has worked for me and has allowed me to achieve more in a shorter space of time. Personally when I started I never understood this; once I began to do this ; I was able to produce more content and network with many different brands.
David , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
The way I got into barbering was I started cutting my own hair and then I had my close friend tell me to start cutting his hair and from there on in it became a hobby and something I slowly did on the side for fun and eventually it built a passion in me for cutting hair. I am a professional barber and I consistently am able to cut my clients at any time ; I don’t really have a time I stop cutting hair I cut at any hour of the day and I supply this service to make it more convenient for my clients especially when dealing with high end clients. I believe this is what sets me apart from many in my field.
I am most proud of how far I’ve come from where I started and the hard work never stops , the workrate and ambition only increases. I want my supporters, clients, and viewers to know that my aim is to always elevate and make the client feel much better than when they came . My brand is to always strive for excellency and be able to develop a great connection with each and every person I come across. I always allow Jesus Christ to lead my business and my brand as he gives me the strength and gift to be able to do what I love on a daily basis.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media was a big part of my marketing . I built these platforms by devising a plan and structure of how to post content that is relevant, trending and appealing to the audiences in my current field. It is important that for those seeking to build their social media platforms to watch videos and go on these platforms and seek what is good and make sure they make content that is relevant but add their own character and personality to whatever content they produce. This will help the grow their social media’s and make sure they remain consistent in the process .
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I used to post and wait for the engagements / likes and when I never got it I would lose motivation to stop posting . The problem with this is it demotivates you in other areas of your life without realising and also more importantly your business. I took it upon myself to remain consistent and keep trying new things eventually ; some of my videos went viral and this helped changed my mindset to never give up.
