We were lucky to catch up with David James recently and have shared our conversation below.
David, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
This is a question I don’t think I’ve asked myself enough. Since starting this journey through photography, its been nothing short of enlightenment for myself personally. I now know how to define a legacy through a skill I believe I was born with. Finding that special skill unlocks a special ability in being able to define what makes you as an individual. I hope with dedication and persistence, I can leave a major creative footprint in the photography industry. Not only leaving a creative footprint, but leaving a positive message to inspire those who want to find their own legacy. This is what I call the “Elevated Experience.”
David, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For people that don’t know me, my name is David James, owner/creator of Elevated._.Eye media. I have been working in the photography Industry for almost three years now, currently focusing my skills in the automotive industry. I established Elevated._.Eye in early spring 2022, and ever since, it has been the most eye opening experience I have ever had. At a young age, I was always around a camera. Equipped with Canon Rebel that was my Father’s, I began shooting random subjects and sunsets, not knowing that this was going to be something I would pursue in the future. As many people probably know, life takes you through so many experiences and you are always trying new things, as you grow older. For me, I got distracted by almost everything in life and never gave myself the time or the love to find what I really enjoyed doing. The result of that was falling into a depression and being surrounded around people I knew I wouldn’t progress with. I was so discouraged and scared I would never find that special thing I was looking for. Skip ahead to the year 2022, I woke up one day and decided I was going spend the majority of my savings on a professional camera. I felt wierd about the purchase and thought for a few weeks, it was the worst decision of my life. I began shooting Macro photography, learning my camera, and photographing anything I could. It wasn’t until my first automotive event I attended I photographed my first few show cars. After seeing those results, I knew from that point on, that photography was what I was put on this planet to do and something I could perfect for the rest of my life.
Elevated._.Eye has been the most eye opening experience for me so far in life. With every photo I take, it’s a reminder that if I didnt take a leap of faith with something that interested me, none of these photos would be real. My work would be non-existent. With a good mindest, and my strong determination, I hope that my brand continues to inspire and reach new people that also find my work inspiring. Since my first publishing with Voyage Magazine, I have networked with several people in the automotive and Photography Industry, resulting in many opportunities to photograph things I never thought I would be able to. I hope with the many years ahead, I can continue to improve my craft and deliver the best content I can to my clients.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
The more I indulge in the world of photography once again, the more I just hope to inspire. I hope I can push my boundaries to the absolute limit on every project I do and promote progressive creativity in every shot. With that goal set in motion, I know I can achieve anything of my wildest dreams, and become a legendary photographer.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Spreading a “wow” factor through my photography will always be the mission. It’s rewarding to me to know that a person that carries a passion for their vehicle or whatever it may be, likes how I capture it with a camera. That is the ultimate reward and the only one I need to continue progressing. Not only with automotive photography, but various different styles of photography that will help me progress this passion into a career.
