We recently connected with David Jaffe and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, David thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.
When I was a teacher, I had a group of students who struggled with the subject matter. I wished to create a student movie and requested funds from my boss to pay for the video camera.
He gave me a long speech warning about the difficulties. He said it’ll take a ton of time with likely not such a great payoff. And many have tried before me and failed. And after every warning in the book, he told me he had already ordered the camera.
He educated me, but also challenged me. And encouraged me to take risks.
I took that risk, and the project was an enormous success and the highlight of my time as a teacher.

David, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m still finding my path, to be honest.
I’ve been working for two decades, but in that time I can count on one hand the years I was excited to go to work.
I’m right now hunting for the perfect field for my skills and personality, that also fits in with much of the experience I’ve acquired in the past several years.
The ultimate goal: Working in Digital Marketing, with limitless opportunities for growth, creativity, and leadership, preferably in health tech, since my greatest passion in this world is health and fitness.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
After working in education for nearly a year, I decided it was time to move on to something bigger and better. Something new. Something that could meet my goals in life.
I had worked in educational technology, so transferring careers into the tech sector seemed to be the logical next step.
Simultaneously, I was at a major crossroads in life. I had just gotten divorced. I was broke. I was living in the middle of nowhere. And I was trying to find myself.
But I kept my head way up high. Told myself the world was mine for the taking. And before I knew it, I found my first tech job, and I started a process of fighting my way to a better life. I did what had to be done. And I conquered!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Just knowing I’m in the minority.
I recently had someone tell me they envied me. Why? Because their lack of vision limited them. They could only go so far as a non-creative. They could a top-of-the-line soldier, but at the end of the day, they’d still just be a grunt.
But people like me have unlimited potential. To be sure, i’s not even close to realized at this stage of the game. But the sky’s the limit. I’m a visionary, and there will never be a moment along the way that I will declare that I am done climbing the mountain.
