We recently connected with David Jacobe and have shared our conversation below.
Hi David , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
In 2021 I released an album, entitled The Recovery Room, which was a passion project, and a testament to the trials, tribulations the successes and upsets of being a black man, dealing with heartbreak, rape, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, Acceptance, physical and verbal abuse, abandonment, and the feelings of being unworthy because I’m HIV positive, while chasing my destiny and pursuing my purpose in Christ, this project meant so much to me, because when I was unable to talk about certain things, the songs would come out, so pure, as if I was speaking them, but using the God-given gift that God has given to me, which is my voice, I felt like my voice would make more of the impact needed compared to me actually speaking about the inner turmoil going on inside of me.
It is very important to me to be transparent, open and honest about life so that way I am able to be a catalyst for people to experience the God. I know the God I understand and God I love most importantly. Music to me is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything. It is the essence of order, and leads to all that is good, just and beautiful, of which it is the invisible, but nevertheless dazzling, and passionate.
During this process of consulting with God, writing and arranging with my sister, VetNicole and getting with my brother Eddy “Versatile” Keyz with Keyz2TheSoul Productions to produce and record the project. I was able to begin healing, where I thought healing was not possible. I was able to forgive others, and some spaces hadn’t forgiven myself, but this project shed light on Holding to God’s unchanging hand! and building my hopes on things eternal!” so that way, no matter what the circumstance no matter what the situation I will be OK!
This project on has gross 28.3 K streams with no radio play and has been heard in the United States, Nigeria, Panama, United Kingdom, Jamaica, Namibia, and Russia and one of my songs went viral on Facebook from a 30sec clip of the song Ashes ( The sentiment of my heart) with 8.4k Views, 461- Reactions 242- Comments, and 119- Shares which depicts my life in its entirety, in a four minutes and 13 seconds song. so it is important that the project be meaningful to you, so that way when it reaches the people it’s not the person or heart-to-heart it’s sold to soul. Not only where the people be blessed, but God will get the glory out of it.
David , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most reward aspect of being an artist/creative, is dreaming about a vision, or God, giving you a vision, and seeing it fully come to fruition in front of you there is no greater feeling in this world then God showing himself strong, even when you feel like you’re not seeing it happen, it’s not gonna happen And then boom it happens and on top of that to watch people be blessed by the work that I put so much blood sweat and tears into and sometimes even sickness. It brings tears to my eyes and joy to my heart to watch people we field, when they are truly empty.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
A time when I had to pivot in business, career or life is when I started my group David Delaware & Divine Sound, we had been together for 11 years, and it seemed that nothing was lining up for us no matter how good the group was good we sounded nothing seem to line up Then decided to go and be a solo artist in which I was a solo artist for about a year when God gave me a vision to start David Jacobe & The Family Experience the pivot was important, because the new era of this ministry that I am currently the leader of is for the people who have been overlooked the other dogs the people who are very muscle talented And gifted for such a time is but have not given the opportunity to show their ability to be under the leadership who understands them, and is going to support them and uplift them and uphold them in ways that they have not been before.
