We were lucky to catch up with David Ellis recently and have shared our conversation below.
David, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Auroras & Blossoms, founded by Cendrine Marrouat and David Ellis, publishes “positive, uplifting, and inspirational written and visual art” from artists of all ages. Beginning in early 2019 as a poetry journal, Auroras & Blossoms now publishes a variety of genres and produces anthologies, books, and guides for writers. They also started PoArtMo, originally shorthand for Positive Art Month/Positive Art Moves, which brings attention to positive art in the month of June and promotes the creation of positive art year-round. PoArtMo now stands for Positive Actions Rally Thoughts & Momentum and has expanded to foster a community of people sharing positive ideas and stories.
We believe that art is a universal language. As such, it should be shared with everyone, no matter their age, and used as a vehicle for important conversations.
Most magazines have an “either or” approach when it comes to their focus. It is either adult artists or young creatives. There is no in-between. Our motto is inclusivity in every possible way. Young people have a lot of powerful things to tell and teach us about the world. We want their voices to be heard too.
What makes Auroras & Blossoms unique is its complete dedication to family-friendliness, inspiration and
upliftment. The content we publish often challenges the reader to think differently. But it is free of
swear words, violent language, and erotica, so that children, teenagers, and adults alike can read it.
As far as we are aware, no other platform or independent publication does what we do on the scale of what we have to offer the publishing world, particularly in the realms of publishing opportunities for both children and inspirational writers.
Our ultimate mission is to bring more happiness and inspiration to a world that is sorely in need of these things right now.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

They have both been writing for many years, having both a professionalism and passion for every project they are involved in.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Cendrine Marrouat: We met 5 or 6 years ago, when I was looking for interview opportunities to promote one of my photography books. David struck me as a very professional and dedicated individual
from the get-go.
The interview was wonderful and we kept in touch over Facebook after that. At the beginning of 2019,
we started chatting about partnering on a publishing platform together. Within a few weeks, Auroras & Blossoms was born.
David Ellis: When I was first setting up the blog for my own website, I was writing poetry and interviewing authors. Cendrine kindly participated in an Author Interview and we kept in touch, as we shared mutual interest in inspirational poetry. We were finding that there seemed to be an enormous lack of it in all of the modern poetry we were reading and it was at this point we decided to form a platform together to rectify the situation. I came up with the “Auroras/euphoria” part and Cendrine has always had a deep fondness of cherry blossoms, hence “Auroras & Blossoms” came to fruition! We then built upon the platform to include other art styles, literary forms, guide books, anthologies and more, it truly has become a place to celebrate inspirational creativity at its very finest.
To this very day, we have an excellent business relationship because of our vision, passion and dedication to our creative careers. We both want each other to succeed and to be instrumental in the creation of careers for other like-minded individuals.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For both of us, nothing is more rewarding than when we are cited as the first publishing opportunity of an upcoming writer/creative. This is the reason why we do what we do, we want to give more publishing opportunities to those people who are just starting out in their careers and to be a part of that process, to give them the spark for them to want to take that creativity into adulthood, that right there is the most wonderful thing, to know that we are building a community by giving people courage, hope and confidence in their lives to keep making great art.
