Today we’d like to introduce you to David Dick II.
Hi David, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Like most people who attend college I also was not 100% sure what direction my life would take. I understood Finance & Investments pretty well at a young age because of my family’s history in the industry. I graduated with a Finance Degree from the University of Central Oklahoma, but before Graduation I interviews different finance firms trying to understand the Finance industry without my families influence. I found out fairly quick what I liked and did not like from internships and interviews. From my own personal experience, I decided to follow my mother and Aunts direction of becoming an Independent Financia Advisor. But I did so on my own 3 hours away from where their office is located. I started out with Zero Clients and Zero Income and as green as one could be. From that point I had to create my own daily structure, plans, goal settings, and I had to meet as many people as possible. There were many failures along the way and a few successful stories. I attest all my success to the good Lord above. Without him I know I would not be where I am today. He provided and continues to provide everything I need in this world. The second thing was being consistent. I had to create my own schedule. No one was telling me what to do or how to go about my day, so it took some time thinking and acting on those tasks I created for myself. I believe being consistent and being a friend first to everyone shows you care for the clients over the monetary values. This being said, as of today we are a team of 3 Financial Advisors at FrontPoint Wealth Management, LLC and we have a fourth guy currently studying for his securities licenses. Our goal is to be the first person someone thinks of when they think of investing or wealth management.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This industry is very difficult mentally. It has been anything but smooth. There are 3 areas I can remember when getting started that were some of the toughest concepts to either understand, let go or accept. The first thing I mentioned was understanding and I attached the idea of being lonely. I’m not saying this as a woe is me, I am bringing this up because in some capacity it is true, and I’m sure others can relate. Starting a business is exciting, scary, nerve wrecking, and unknown. But not everyone around you is who stay around you. Sometimes I would need to vent, complain, or celebrate but there isn’t always someone there to call or talk too. So, trying to understand situations where I am in a sales role, but I never wanted to be that person who started a sales position and turned all my friends and colleagues into prospects. Early on trying to understand my new role was very difficult. The second struggle was letting go. In business there are so many factors that cannot be controlled or managed. I learned to stop stressing or worrying about the outcome from meetings or conversations. All I can do is give my best, but I have more peace when I let go of the “possible” outcome. I want to work with others who want to work with me, so I have no desire to force sale products or services. My final struggle on this business road is growth. In business we all would like to have a profitable business, but the struggle comes with learning how to grow but still maintain the core values you had when you started. How are you in multiple places at once, how do you handle all the back-office task that comes along with running a business. In order to operate at high level, it goes back to scheduling. Blocking out time to work on the business as well as for the business is what I learned. Handling the struggle of growth comes down to time management and creating systems that are more efficient.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about FrontPoint Wealth Management, LLC ?
Frontpoint Wealth Management, LLC (previously David Dick Financial, LLC) is the rebranding in 2024 when the business grew into a multi-Advisor practice. I was a one man show, but after the business grew to two Financial Advisors, I soon realized we needed a name better suited. We specialize in wealth management, Investments, retirement planning, and financial planning. From these services we offer we seem to be known more for our personability. Our goal is to have everyone who trust us with their business to feel as though they are someone who matters and not a number to a book of business. We offer services from coast to coast in the United States. We pride ourselves in the ability to handle large cases with a little bit of a small business care. When someone becomes a client, we actually give out our cell phone numbers. We believe if we are managing someone’s money, they should have the ability to get ahold of us quickly if needed.
What matters most to you?
Jesus Christ, He is the reason I have anything in this world. All blessing come from him and I give him the credit for everything that has gone on in my life. I put full faith in him after about a year of working and he has taken my practice further than I have ever imagined in a shorter time than I have ever imagined. my relationship with him matters most in my life and I am not afraid to say it.
He blessed me with a family that I adore more than anything on this earth. I give it all to him who has saved me.
