Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to David Csaszar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
David, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
So many projects have had such a significant impact on my success, my artwork, and ultimately myself. It’s hard to pick only one. So here’s two…
1. I was recently was commissioned to paint my first mural in a commercial space. It was only the fifth mural I’ve ever painted so it meant a lot to get to work with another local small business owner who enjoyed my artwork and also had the faith in me to paint nearly 200 square feet of wall space inside their store!
Big thanks to Pastries of Denmark in Creve Coeur. I learned a lot during this project, which I think turned out really cool and you can actually watch online. Which brings me to…
2. Creating my YouTube channel “AerosolArtworks” and beginning to both document and review my creative process has been more fun, more work, and more insightful than I had anticipated.
If your creating artwork I would suggest at least documenting the process for yourself if you don’t want to share it. It’s only helped me and pushed me even more to improve and now I can literally track my progression. I’m curious to see what other projects lie ahead and hope to record as many as possible.
I have always hoped one of my videos might inspire another person to try making art, start drawing or painting again if they haven’t in a long time like me, or simply pursue a passion.
3. Every time I paint a commission, especially a portrait of someone’s pet, (not always but usually dogs) it’s a different kind of happy that people get when they get to see the painting. So every commission painting I’ve done, particularly the ones of pets, have felt really special to be apart of.
David, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is David Csaszar. As funny as it sounds to say, I’m an artist!
I studied business in college long after giving up on any “artistic” dreams (which I feel has been very beneficial in the long run) so for over a decade I created absolutely nothing outside of doodles on my calendar at work and on the dust on my car.
Like many people I love YouTube and one day saw a video of a spray paint artist making a beautiful, intricate, detail rich painting with such skill and literally completed it in just minutes. I was hooked. The name of the artist was Stefan Acanski or SkechArt.
Had I not started watching those videos and later other artists videos I’m confident I wouldn’t be here today. YouTube worked like a roadmap. Showing me the process, the materials and tools required, techniques, tips, tricks, different styles and types of art entirely. I began finding other artists, some doing canvases, other murals, and many focusing on How-to videos. And not just how to paint, but how to market and sell your art in different ways. The art community is simply awesome.
So after reigniting my creative fire my hobby slowly took over my life and I eventually quit my job of nearly a decade to make and sell my art full time. It’s been such a rewarding experience I’m so glad I decided to make the change.
It’s been over a year now of calling myself a full time spray paint, canvas and mural artist. I feel my style, other still evolving and taking shape, is a blend of street art and fine art as I find beauty and important influences in both.
My goal in art is similar to the famous Da Vinci quote “Art is never finished, merely abandoned” in that I only desire to continue to improve. Not to seek perfection in whatever I’m doing but to simply do it better than I could yesterday.
I currently sell my original canvas and spray paintings, art prints, and T-shirts. Looking to offer other items featuring my artwork in the future.
I do commission canvas and spray paintings by request as well as wall murals. You can purchase my artwork from me at my local farmers and flea markets as well as other local events or online on my web store at www.aerosolartwork.com

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I think the most rewarding thing is seeing people, from toddlers to grandparents, notice my art and react to it. Whether it’s a painting that makes someone crack a smile, laugh out loud, say “nice job”, or a child just learning to speak saying the name of the animal in the painting(my favorite). Honestly any reaction. It’s fun to watch people react to what you’ve made and one of the most amazing feelings when someone tells you they love your painting and want to take it home.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Right now! Haha
My wife and I are expecting our first baby this July! So with a newborn on the way I know have a lot of pivoting to do! In all seriousness we are so very excited and cannot wait to meet our little boy or girl.. yup, we’re keeping it a surprise!
Also something that maybe everyone can take something away from is in the winter last year I had to pivot. My local markets being closed with cold weather I took my artwork to Florida and participated in 6 art fairs over 2 months. Was a great experience! Looking forward to going back and also traveling to other new places to showcase and sell my work.
