We recently connected with David Camhi and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, David thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think success is really confusing sometimes, we think money, awards, recognition, etc…but at the end, family, peace of mind and happiness is the one thing we disregard from the equation. Obviously, this comes with time and maturity, and it takes a ton of work and dedication, knowing clearly what you need and what you want, is the key for success.

David, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been near the hospitality business all my life, father, uncle, and two brothers, so I suppose its has been in my blood and my brain forever.
I opened my first restaurant at 23 in Mexico City, and from that point on, I have opened 3 more restaurants and worked for ultra-luxury hotels and hospitality developments all my life, I am 46 years old and living my best life.
At the time being, I own and run two restaurants in Los Cabos, La Lupita [Taco & Mezcal] and looking forward to open two more in the area.
La Lupita, became one of the first mezcalerias in town, and we developed and created this taco offer, with more than 30 different options.
I think that the thing that makes most proud, is that we opened our first Lupita after a huge hurricane 8 years ago, it was something really special, to be able to uplift the San Jose del Cabo downtown and be one of the first restaurants and still be here, successful and being able to be a favorite for locals and tourists.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
This is probably, the best part of our story, Chistian Fuentes and myself, my dear friend from junior high, cofounded La Lupita 8 years ago and it has been an incredible journey to succes.
The basics, trust, love, friendship, comunication and respecting each others roll, without this, the road gets really bumpy.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Ufff, this is a good one, 9 years ago, I had an unfortunate car accident and lost my left arm, from that point on, I had to come out of my comfort zone, obviously, it demanded my full attention, dedication and strength…but at the end, the desire and the need to go forward as a person and a family man, feeds you to be the best man you can and to strive for excellence. I would not change a thing.
