We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Davia Boston. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Davia below.
Davia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope my legacy will leave an impact on future generations. When the future generation sees me, my hope is that it embarks new hope, and they see my Joy and faith. My earnest prayer is that the youth feels heard, and understood and knows that they are valued. I want them to be enlightened and empowered that if they believe, they can achieve. I hope that it will unleash some go-getters, for them to dream but to also go after that dream. They will understand that faith without works is dead, and works without faith is dead. I pray that no matter what they are faced with, they can overcome, can prevail, and never worry about what people have to say. I hope my legacy leaves an impact on the ongoing generations.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
Well, most people know me as an actress because I went to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) as a performing arts student. And most are aware that I have my own non-profit organization for children in need. However, I have now published my first children’s book and I am really excited to be a first-time author. I am ecstatic for the youth to lay their eyes on this book. This has brought me so much Joy because it is a reflection of the relationship I share with Jesus. God was very specific with me about this vision and the process of creating this book. From the title of the book to the cover of the book, and from the designing process, everything was 100% his vision and I just obeyed. The book is titled Joy and Jesus and it is an activity book designed for youth ages 5-12, but I honestly feel as if it can affect any given age. The book has about twenty-four pages and it is designed to help young children discover their God-given Joy through biblical stories, positive affirmations, crossword puzzles, word searches, and coloring sheets. It encourages the youth to feed their spirit and dive into their creativity and self-expression.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I would say I had to unlearn would probably be that everybody I had around me was for me. I had to learn that as you go through life, you’ll lose friends, business partners, and even family members. I had to understand that when there’s a calling in your life, God will reveal and give you the people that you’ll need to fulfill the purpose he has for you. As an entrepreneur, teacher, leader, and author, I just had to understand to keep my focus on the bigger picture no matter who comes, who goes, and who misunderstands, no matter the odds, there’s a purpose that needs to be fulfilled. In conclusion to this stay patient with yourself, stay disciplined, and always keep the faith.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Yes, Well leading the future generation isn’t easy at all. I feel like sometimes I may tend to get overwhelmed because of how big my assignment is. I remember hitting rock bottom before and wanting to throw in the towel because by me being so young and having to show up for myself the pressures of life can get to me sometimes, but when I remember my why and who God called me to be, I get back up and go harder. Let your light shine always.
