We were lucky to catch up with Daverney Freeman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daverney, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I came up with Limitless Community Outreach Ltd. because police brutality, mass incarceration, injustices, and racial discrimination has impacted my life prior to my birth. My mother’s teenage sweetheart was beaten and killed while in police custody. My teenage sweetheart was racially profiled and killed. My uncle is currently serving 45 years in prison and never had an opportunity to receive proper legal representation. There are too many other Black families with these similar traumatizing stories. I didn’t want to simply be a victim but an advocate for equal treatment for the Black community. From these testimonies to the many unknown stories, gave me the fortitude to push forward in outreach for those who our justice system has labeled a detriment.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m Daverney raised in the Sunshine state, but now living in the Atlanta area where I founded the nonprofit organization, Limitless Community Outreach Ltd., LCO. I have personally committed my life to serving the underserved, particularly youth and minorities. LCO was formed for the sole purpose of conducting outreach and providing services to the disadvantaged and limited-resources communities. I have been actively engaged in outreach for the last 4 years and made the leap to form a legal entity (non-profit organization) that would have greater impact. Limitless Community Outreach Ltd. responds to human needs by providing direct services and collaborating with other agencies and organizations. Our goal is to relieve pain and suffering, lessen oppression, meet basic human needs, and promote justice, equality, and diversity for the Black community. Virtually every facet of the lives of Black people in the United States—both adults and children—is shaped by race. America’s racist laws and policies have long impacted Black Americans, regardless of their socioeconomic status or social standing. The vital work we do advancing political, educational, social, and economic equality for Black people wouldn’t without your support.
Here are our current projects:
Inmate Services- Provide: funds for legal representation for minority inmates; coaching/training to prevent re-entry in criminal system (youth & adults); prison reform
Mental Health Advocacy – Hand-on events that promote mental health ( health screenings, workshops – yoga, walks, dancing, meditation, workshops)
Family Connections: Workshops (parenting class, credit building, cooking, community events – build the importance of community)
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
As a nonprofit organization, we rely on the generous contributions from the community we serve. We’re fortunate to have built powerful connections with other organizations within the Metro Atlanta area to raise funds for our causes. We’re proud of the work we’re doing for the community and have many supporters that believe in our mission and want to help by providing in-kind support. For those who want to contribute to our campaign, can reach out to us through social media or our website.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?
When managing a team, I communicate directly and transparently. Everyone dreads miscommunication because it causes confusion and stress. I offer a clear vision to keep everyone on track to achieve goals. Delegate the workload the ensures that its respects the individual capabilities. Provide constructive feedback and recognition. Team management can lead to happier employees which ultimately keeps the morale high. In above all to keep happiness in the workplace, we prioritize work life balance. Overworked people are in danger of burnout. Encouraging our employees to leave the office on time, or if the business allows, we follow a more flexible schedule, so employees can have more say over their start and end times.
