We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Dave Esparza Breman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Dave, appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
In 2020, amidst the chaos of the global pandemic, I found myself unexpectedly without a job in the service industry. The uncertainty and challenges of that period led me to rethink my career path. With a dusty, unused printer tucked away in the back room, an idea started to take shape. Printed Curiosities was born out of the desire to turn adversity into opportunity.
As I embarked on this new journey, I started small, with just one printer. The world was shifting towards online shopping, and it was clear that there was a demand for unique and personalized ornaments and home decor. In October 2020, I took a leap of faith and launched Printed Curiosities.
The decision was driven by a deep passion for creativity and dedication to crafting items that would bring joy to others. I saw the potential to offer something different, something crafted with care and attention to detail. Each piece we create is a reflection of that dedication and the desire to turn ordinary spaces into extraordinary ones.
Starting with that single printer, we’ve since expanded to a fleet of six, each humming away to bring life to our designs. The journey has been a labor of love, marked by dedication and a strong belief in the value of handmade and 3D-printed creations. The ability to take an idea from concept to reality, to see a design come to life in three dimensions, is what drives our passion.
Printed Curiosities is more than a business to me; it’s a story of resilience and transformation. It’s about turning challenging times into an opportunity to create something beautiful. Every piece we make carries a piece of that journey, and we’re excited to share it with you. Thank you for being a part of our story.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
In 2020, as the world faced unprecedented challenges due to the pandemic, we embraced a transformative journey. Printed Curiosities emerged as a pandemic pivot, capturing the essence of creativity and resilience. From our humble home on the North side of Chicago, we craft 3D-printed home decor and gifts, spanning a diverse range from wall art and keychains to novelty items, wedding decor, and storefront signs.
Our passion extends beyond creating captivating pieces; we’re dedicated to curating maker’s markets, offering creative individuals a platform to showcase their work and thrive financially. With each 3D-printed creation, we aspire to evoke smiles and bring visions to life.
My journey into this industry stemmed from a desire to combine creativity with craftsmanship, transforming challenges into opportunities. Our products and services encompass an array of 3D-printed wonders that transcend conventional design. We solve the need for distinctive, personalized, and exceptional pieces that redefine spaces.
What sets us apart is our unwavering commitment to quality and attention to detail. Every creation is infused with a piece of our journey, and we’re proud to be a part of your story. From wall art that sparks conversations to bespoke keychains that carry sentiments, we stand as a testament to the power of turning dreams into tangible realities.
We are most proud of our ability to turn ideas into art, molding raw materials into cherished pieces. As we navigate these creative waters, our main goal is to make you feel understood, appreciated, and connected to our work. We invite you to join us on this journey, where each piece embodies a slice of life, crafted with care and love.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for expanding our clientele has been a multi-pronged approach that encompasses various channels. We’ve harnessed the power of social media platforms, utilizing their reach to connect with a wider audience and showcase our 3D-printed creations. Our active presence and engaging content have sparked genuine connections and conversations with potential clients.
In-person pop-up markets have also played a pivotal role in our growth. These events provide a unique opportunity to directly interact with customers, share our story, and allow them to experience our products firsthand. Building these face-to-face connections has fostered trust and loyalty within our community.
Additionally, we emphasize reaching out to people authentically. By resonating with others through relatable experiences and narratives, we establish a sense of camaraderie. Our work speaks volumes about our dedication and passion, and this genuine approach resonates with clients who share our values.
In summary, our growth strategy revolves around a harmonious blend of online engagement, personal interactions at pop-up markets, and connecting with people on a relatable level. This holistic approach has enabled us to build a diverse and loyal clientele who appreciate the heart and soul we pour into each 3D-printed creation.

Do you have multiple revenue streams – if so, can you talk to us about those streams and how your developed them?
Absolutely, our business has extended its reach through multiple revenue streams. In addition to our online store, we’ve strategically partnered with various retail shops across the Chicago area, Wisconsin, and even as far as Austin, Texas. This expansion into brick-and-mortar establishments allows us to tap into new markets and introduce our 3D-printed gifts and home decor to a broader audience.
Furthermore, our commitment to fostering creativity and supporting local artisans has led us to curate makers’ markets. These events not only provide a platform for fellow makers to showcase their work but also generate additional revenue streams for our business. It’s a win-win scenario that bolsters the creative community while enhancing our brand visibility and financial sustainability.
In essence, our supplementary revenue streams not only include physical retail partnerships but also extend to innovative ventures like curating makers’ markets. These diverse avenues contribute to our business growth, allowing us to share our passion and creativity with an ever-expanding clientele.
