We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dave ‘Champ’ Moore. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dave ‘Champ’ below.
Hi Dave ‘Champ’, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I think the moment I realized that I wanted to pursue a creative path is when I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It’s a true passion. There are times when I hated jobs, or didn’t feel like working on something even though I was being paid, Anything with my creativity never felt like a “job” it felt more like a way of expressing myself. Everyday I wake up from start to finish, there’s some script in my head whenever I exchange dialogue with someone, or hear music at a store or my car. Wherever I go, the creativity bug follows and now I can’t imagine life without it.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Dave ‘Champ’ Moore. I am a two-time published author, screenwriter, actor, podcast host, and many more titles. I got into my industry simply from never turning my brain off. I had an itch to always create and make something. Creating films, books, scripts, episodes is something that can be time consuming, but can also bring so much value to what you put into them for yourself and others who check out your work. The thing I believe I am most proud of with all of the creative things I’ve accomplished is my children’s book, “Alvin Travels America”. It’s a book about a young boy who travels the 50 states of America. I dedicated to my nephews and it holds such a near spot to my heart because of that but also as I wrote it, I learned more about the states I wanted to visit and it’s given me a reason to adventure and explore more to what everything has to offer!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is when someone tells you how your art affected them. How they felt connected and you brought something to them and their feelings that they could relate to. As a creative it can be difficult being vulnerable and putting yourself out there, so when you do that and it resonates with another person, it’s a happy moment of knowing your art and work really can inspire and impact others.
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
I do think it all happened exactly at the time it should, but my answer would be people! When I started my creative journey I was very secluded and worked very independently. That helped me focus more on my projects but it also hurt at times too when I found out a relative, or a friend, or co-workers Uncle, etc. could have helped me with some of their own personal experiences and help me not make the same mistakes. Don’t be afraid to talk about your passion with others. Not everyone has the answers, but there are some people willing to help you grow and develop.
