We were lucky to catch up with Daunessy Shaitaire recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Daunessy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
When I was about 8 years old, reading the Songs of Solomon, in that moment I felt the power of words in my heart that I knew I could change the world with. From there it was just a constant outpouring of stories, feelings, poems, songs, questions, answers, prayers, affirmations, and anything in between. Words hold so much within them and I knew if I could connect with that cosmic dialogue it will always flow freely from me leading me and guiding me to my better and giving that energy to all who resonate with my words and voice.

Daunessy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Daunessy Shaitaire, owner and visionary of the #AlignedAsf brand and Aligned Effect Productions, I have been a full time word artist since 2017, I call myself a word artist because there is no medium limited to the impact of words. I utilize the power of language to translate emotions in songs, translate healing in poems, translate elevation with motivational speeches. It was in 2021 that I decided to elevate my game beyond a simple hustle with a sprinkle of dream but turn into a true brand. It’s been a slow but consistent build for every connection, like, share, and exploration of self. My podcast (The Aligned Effect) began during a transitional phase in my life, where I was wasting more energy on being heard and seen for my journey of life as opposed to utilizing the mic to find my truth and mend my wounds, because of this I was inconsistent and stopped after 2/3 months but picked it back up late into 2022 and we have been rocking and rolling ever since. In the #AlignedAsf tribe we focus on healing childhood trauma, practicing self care, and discovering spiritual balance. These are three points that have been impacted in my journey whether towards elevation or away from it, I didn’t want to feel alone and would get messages from people who watched my daily motivation videos who felt the same and felt inspired. Taking note of that insight I said to myself, “why not me”, and began to cultivate lesson plans, worksheets, reading lists for book clubs, daily affirmations, my book, basing it all on questions and insights that I had or was presented with during my own journey of healing. We started with 12 views and have grown to 350 members worldwide under our membership plans. Currently we are rebranding and preparing for our season 3.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2018, lost everything and was living in my car for about 1 and three months across the nation. It was a very low point in my life because I lost direction of my oath and belief in myself, even before it got to that point. I have always had this inherent feeling that I could do something great but allowed my past to cloud those possibilities. I grew up in an unstable and abusive upbringing which has impacted my self esteem, and when I got to the bottom of my own barrel it forced me to look at that pain and look t myself within and ask hard questions about the moments and people these memories were connected to. I allowed myself to break, I allowed myself to buckle under the weight of my pain, so I could feel it, so I could understand it, so that I could finally find my own path to dealing with it in a more healthy way. During that time of homelessness I connected deeper with myself and with God, I visualized a new me, and created a plan for how I wanted my future to look and flow. Went back to school for cosmetology to tap back into creation, fulfill a lifelong plan, and connect with new people. That opened me back to writing, writing elevated my content creation game, and I just kept pouring back into myself.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Consistency. I’m still growing my following but my numbers are powerful and the exposure of social media is very real. Don’t be afraid to fail, don’t be afraid to step out of comfort zone, and do not limit your creativity to an aesthetic. Play around with your industry by flowing creatively to express your message, your brand, and your vision. There are no limits on content creation and as long as you commit to yourself and exploring your mind and spirit , it can and will take you far.
