Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Daun Green. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Daun thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
If I was able to start over I wouldn’t change anything, I mean to get to where I am at now FASTER…(thinking to myself) Yikes!!! I would’ve missed out on the experiences of the L’s I’ve taken and turn them into LESSONS! I’m still growing within my purpose every day and I’m grateful that I learn something new every day within my lane! It brings me great joy because I get intrigued and overjoyed to still want to learn about perfecting styling! I believe it’s no shortcut to get to where I am at today and/or success faster. In order to be successful in business you have to learn to enjoy every moment. Therefore, it’s nothing I would have done differently to get to where I am today.
For folks who may not have read about you before, can you please tell our readers about yourself, how you got into your industry / business / discipline / craft etc, what type of products/services/creative works you provide, what problems you solve for your clients and/or what you think sets you apart from others. What are you most proud of and what are the main things you want potential clients/followers/fans to know about you/your brand/your work/ etc.

Daun, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Daun Green and I’m a fashion stylist in Detroit, Mi! I started my company after doing a photo shoot (as a model) and I noticed that the designer was taking the liking to the wardrobe stylist recommendations…What should I wear for the photo shoot? What shoes should I wear? What accessories should I have? Etc. when I say this photo shoot was flawless because everything the wardrobe stylist recommended made the outfit and myself “pop” on print! I began shadowing this wardrobe stylist and she became my mentor and to this day she is still my fashion stylist mentor!!!
After doing a few photo shoots for my portfolio, I did wardrobe styling for a fashion show and fell in love with that experience so much that I began producing fashion shows the “What’s
Next DTD? Pop-up Fashion Show” series! We produce shows at The Detroit Zoo, Coleman A Young Airport and recent Ford Piquette Plant.
As well, as I’ve had the opportunity to work as the head of the wardrobe department for DirxBeasy Jones Films and A-Line Cinema all of our films are available to stream on Amazon Prime & Tubi (Weight The Movie, Child Support, Narc, Power & Money & many more)! Check them out today!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe that what help build my reputation within my market is the same person you see on social media is the same person you’ll meet in person! I genuinely care for my clients and providing them with the looks they’re looking for when they booked my services as a fashion stylist.
Overall it’s about being consistent and showing up everyday for your clients with the expectations that you’ve provided for them! As well, as being their vision to life and sometimes you exceed their expectations and that’s a great feeling!

How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I genuinely care about my clients, I always pay attention to the reasons their booking my services if it’s for a wedding/birthday party/dinner date/work office looks! I listen to them during the fittings and if they had to rush out to cook dinner and the next appointment I asked them how did the dinner turn out last week…my client and I might be able to bond on cooking recipes and for their look in the future I’ll provide them with a causal look for “the last minute dinners you prep after work”.
I love to follow up with my clients after we work together, too! Sometimes a simple text message and/or email to ask them “how’s everything going? what’s the next event coming up? “for them triggers a conversation that they’ve been meaning to connect again and next thing you know you’re booked again with the same client!
