Dassah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?

I actually got my first client as an accident. I had just recieved this short human hair wig for a Youtube hair review. I knew right away that I wasn’t going to wear it, but went ahead and filmed it. I had later recieved a comment from a subscriber saying how much they loved the wig. Since I knew I wasn’t going to wear it myself, I told her I could sell it to her if she wanted. This was before I had ever launched my hair boutique, let alone ever sold hair online. But this did spark my interest and I had wanted to start my own hair boutique for some time anyways, so this had to be fate. The timing was too perfect. I really didn’t know how the transaction would work, so I started to do some research. I wanted to find a marketplace where I would be able to sell my hair, without breaking the bank. I had a closet at home full of hair that I have never worn, and nothing to do with it. That is when Dassah’s Hair Boutique was found. I started up my boutique and posted all the hair I had in my closet. She was my first sale. I was so excited, and my love for the business has only grown from there.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

Hello my name is Dassah Mariee and I own an online hair boutique. I like to always say I didn’t go looking for the industry, the industry found me. I had fallen in love with wigs as a child. I was always playing with some type of extensions. So when I was old enough to wear them myself, I jumped in full force. From that moment I always knew I would have some sort of connection with wigs and extensions when I got older. Once I started my Youtube channel I would do hair reviews with hair I would purchase from my local beauty supply store. That’s were it all started for me. When I decided to start Dassah’s Hair Boutique, I wanted it to be like a local beauty supply store but online. I started off with only wigs, but later added other types of hair. I added clip in extentions, ponytails, lashes and even hair products. I like to provide the best quality and deals for my customers. What sets me apart is my passion. Having passion for this industry at a young age pushed me to do my best. Anyone can sell hair. But it takes someone special to actually want the best for their customers and help them along the way. The only problems I can say I have encountered on this journey is people not believing in me. People were thinking this was a phase, or not taking me seriously. But I have learned it doesn’t matter what others want for you, it’s what you want for yourself. And that has gotten me a long way. What I am most proud of is I have started this boutique from the ground up without any help. For that I will always be proud of myself. What I would like my potential customers to know is that your purchase helps fulfill a dream. Helps to put food on the table for my family and I. I will always be grateful for anyone who purchases from me.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?

Social media hands down has been the best source of new customers for me. I very much believe in self promoting. I do all my promoting myself. I have no one sharing my boutique. Or anyone telling their friends and family to purchase from me. It is all me. So I make sure to post on all my platforms in case it catches the eye of a potential customer.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

I make sure to keep in touch with previous customers. If they buy from me again I make sure to always give them a good deal. Especially if they are buying multiple products. I will do bundle deals, or even throw in a free gift or two. This is very helpful and makes them want to come back for future purchases, I love that.
