We recently connected with Dasja White and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Dasja thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Over the years, I have accomplished so many goals. Apart of being successful is dedication. Everyday will not be your day. Every client and/or customer is not going to be a good fit. I still have so much success that I want to accomplish. Failure is apart of success because if you don’t fail how do you know how to get back up and try again. Practice your craft and never give up. I have been doing hair since I was 8 years old and everyday is a learning experience in the hair industry. I have also learned that surrounding myself with people that want to be successful helps me reach my goals. Success doesn’t come easy but I do believe everyone will have their own success. Stay focus and remain humble..

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I started doing hair when I was 8 years old. I enjoyed playing with my BRATZ dolls. My passion for hair is indescribable. I specialize in knotless/traditional box braids, crochets, and sew ins. I have now launched my own hair care line that consists of hair bonnets, edge control, and scalp stimulating spray. My clients really enjoy coming to get service by me because I’m very talented, a fast braider, and my personality. I am proud of being able to service so many clients in the Raleigh-Durham area. I also have traveling clients that come 2 plus hours just to sit in my hair chair..
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
One of most effective strategies in growing my clientele is hashtags! I have asked so many of my new clients how did they hear about me and they would say “ I hashtag Durham braider or Raleigh braider on Instagram and your profile popped up.” I never would think a free social media site will help me grow my business.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Covid had a huge impact on my business. I couldn’t service clients for months. I had to come up with a way to keep my income in my household. I started making wigs for my clients. So many clients got wigs made and we were still able to practice social distance.
