We were lucky to catch up with Dasha Pirela recently and have shared our conversation below.
Dasha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to start by getting your thoughts on what you are seeing as some the biggest trends emerging in your industry.
Video is growing day by day. While photography will always be relevant video is taking over. Video transports you, gives you a better sense of the experience and overall has the advantage of showing a great amount of information in a short time frame. It flirts with your senses and mixed with music, it creates a memorable feeling. Music plays a huge roll in this industry and it’s the best compliment.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi I’m Dasha was born in Caracas, raised in Miami and based in North County San Diego. Started my career in advertising then moved onto television, where I learned how to work with short form video creating trailers for TV shows. Later I moved to the United States to study Fashion Merchandise in Miami and after a few years I came across with an influencer through social media that gave me the opportunity to work along her to create her Youtube channel and all her videos for her socials. Saw the growth of the industry and found a niche, now all these influencers have grown so much that they have created their own brands and now I am working for their brands and other brands emerging brand start ups.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Networking, networking, networking. The more people you know the better it will be to get your name out there. Before the pandemic I was going to like minded groups, events, talks, and it helped me connect with people in deeper level. Another way to network that it’s not IRL it would be slide into DM’s. Send a real message, start a conversation and how you and the other person inspires you, how would you both could connect.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
In my mind there is nothing in the world most rewarding than having the opportunity of mixing your creative outlet to your business. I had the great fortune to learn the skills of branding, storytelling and editing early in my career and using it now as a freelance, is giving me the freedom of time management and the opportunity to work with the clientele of my dreams. It will always be a work in progress but one I definitely don’t take for granted.
