We were lucky to catch up with Darya Kosovan recently and have shared our conversation below.

Darya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

In early 2018, Ari Candles began from a desire to create not just a candle but something that will purify and benefit the atmosphere and air quality of your home. This desire came after burning a candle that was gifted to us and seeing black residue in our kids noses after burning the candle. That’s when we said “Never Again!” and began working on creating a candle that would not only be pleasant to burn but beneficial.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?

My name is Darya and I go by Dasha, I am a child of God and am saved by faith. Romans 5:8 . That’s the most important part of my story!

Our company started in 2018 with a desire to create a healthy natural candle for my family to burn at home. I wanted to know the exact ingredients that are in the candle as I didn’t want to fill my home with toxins that normally come from candles. From many hours of research and experimenting wellness by Ari was born. Our candles are 100% Pure Beeswax with organic coconut oil, hemp wicks and aromatherapy essential oils. THATS IT! You can actually read the label ingredients and know what those ingredients are, and that’s what I wanted.

Our company has been richly blessed with an amazing community of customers that feel like family. I love having that relationship with our customers and hearing their feedback on the candles. We want every single one of our customers to be completely satisfied with their candle and be able to share with others about them.

2022 has brought significant growth for the company and we are truly blessed by our customers, as there wouldn’t be Wellness by Ari without them. As we continue to grow our goal is always to create the cleanest candles and in the near future, we hope to introduce some sample sizes candles and some wax melts.

Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?

My business partner is also my best friend and amazing husband. We have been married for 12 years now and we have 4 children. We met at the age of 14 at church and grew in years, friendship and love… then got married. He has been an incredible encouragement, and help in all of this. He’s very knowledgeable in many different traits so it’s been awesome working together and using our talents and skills .

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

To start the business I initially didn’t want to be in debit. That was my biggest fear was starting a business and getting into debt. So as I was creating the candles , researched, trial and error I also worked on the side to save up money for all the different expenses that came with a business until the business was able to bring in profit. Once that happened I stopped doing side work and focused on growing Wellness by Ari.
