We recently connected with Darryl McFadden and have shared our conversation below.
Darryl, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start with education – we’d love to hear your thoughts about how we can better prepare students for a more fulfilling life and career
It’s a common answer but involving more classes about managing finances and a class that teach you more about cultures maybe. Environmental science too or something because we don’t have those skill no more either. I want to live on a farm later

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a Chef and Clothing Designer. I draw my own art and sew / manufacture a decent amount of my clothes. Don’t Play Fair Closet is my street wear brand and i sell handmade pieces. I also work at Rooftop LOA as a Chef for their pool. I have a catering service under my Don’t Play Fair company but I have been more focused on my clothes this year.
Can you talk to us about manufacturing? How’d you figure it all out? We’d love to hear the story.
I got started sewing around 2017 maybe but I didn’t start sewing consistently until the pandemic. Now I have a embroidery machine and a heavy duty machine that i use to make my more complicated. If I can I will heat press my tees too. Making everything yourself a good feeling.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Best source of new clients for this probably pop up shops or events that get put together in the city. I only been apart of one so I’m keeping my eyes open for more that I can get my brand into.
