Darryl, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.

It was a hot sunny day in July 2018, and me and my lady was trying to decide if we should setup our Italian ice cart. We didn’t have any Business social media presence or advertising. We decided to make a post on our personal Facebook page. We was out there for hours, then a young lady named Brittany Hamm came and purchased not one But four large icys!!! I was so grateful and surprised Because I didn’t expect her to come. She said her and her co workers loved the Italian ice. It made me feel appreciated and motivated.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Darryl Dye owner of Dlicious Icy’s. We serve premium Italian ice. I work for the city of Wilson driving a garbage truck, during the summer right after work you can find us setup at a local parking lot or at a storefront. My uncle Chin makes and sells Italian ice. He left a couple of tubs at my house one day and never came to get them, I call and told him, he stated that he left them there intentionally. So I decided to tell sell $1 cups in the neighborhood, and that Boosted my confidence to get out the neighborhood and hit the main streets of Wilson. I know for a fact it’s our customer service and the experience we give our “loved ones” as my uncle chance calls our clients, that sets us apart from other Businesses. We treat everyone like family, we know no strangers at D’licious Icy’s. Our slogan is “Warning may cause addiction” and it’s not just the Italian ice that’s addictive, it’s the whole experience while you here. We offer catering services for any event and delivery services are available. It feels good when people ask us who we work for, or who’s our Boss, and we reply we work for our family. We have unique flavors, our top three are cherry &mango mix, pineapple& lemon mix, and rainbow.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

We have to lead with honesty and love and respect. You can’t go wrong with this aspect. I demand this from every family member “staff member” in our Business Because this is what I lead with. We are all family, not matter what race, religion, Background etc. The D’licious Icy’s family knows that life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, But while we’re here, we don’t have to worry about anything.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?

I honestly think it’s our customer service first and then the ice second. When we get a chance to meet a new loved ones. They feel the honesty love and respect, and once they taste the ice, 9.5 times out of 10 they’ll Become family. We’re fast and very accurate with our service.
