We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Darrian Ware. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Darrian below.
Darrian, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
My journey of learning how to play the guitar began when I went off to college. I had an acoustic guitar that was given to me as a Christmas gift, but didn’t quiet know how to play it, so it was at a certain moment I decided I wanted to major in music and from there I was given lesson weekly by an outstanding guitarist from the Birmingham, Alabama area name Carlos Pino. The road wasn’t easy in fact being that I had no experience in music on top of juggling other classes outside of music related courses I was still determined to learn. If were not for my willingness to be patient with not only myself, but with the process that comes with being a great guitar player I wouldn’t be where I am doing the things I get the honor of doing, but honestly I don’t think there was anything would have done to speed up the process knowing what I know.
Darrian, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started playing guitar at the age of 17 at the tail end of my senior year of high school, having no experience in music what so ever. I began my freshman year at Miles College studying music performance, then later concentrating in jazz studies. I took a break from school, but that didn’t stop me. So I moved back to Atlanta and decided to take a chance and auditioned for a local church position as a lead guitarist where I learned musicianship, the value of good people, and how to play your part to create the perfect sound. From then on I’ve been networking with a lot of wonderful people in the industry having the honor of sharing my gift with them and vice versa. My service as guitar player/musician solves problem for clients such as weddings and private party functions. I am most proud of my progression over the years from simply having no knowledge of music to the point where I can help the next person begin their journey to becoming a well verse guitarist. When I play my guitar I want people to feel a warm comfort in their soul and take them back to when they first felt that feeling when they hear a song for the first time.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal as a guitarist I would like to be able to travel the world with other inspiring musicians and artists and give people the feeling that will put not only a smile on their face, but a smile in their soul.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The rewarding thing about being a creative is giving a return in an investment to the people in what they ask for.
