Darren Lee , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

From a young age, I’ve always felt a deep connection to entertaining and entrepreneurship. At the age of eleven, i taught the neighborhood kids the thriller dance from the Michael Jackson video and charged their parents a quarter to watch their kids perform. It wasn’t just fun, it was the spark that ignited my journey. That passion carried me across the country after high school to pursue a career in the arts, and I’ve never looked back.

Darren Lee , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m an actor and ballroom dancer. My journey in the arts started when I was young, and I pursued it right out of high school. I own Darrens Ballroom Dance Studios, where I teach various dance styles and offer private lessons. In addition to dance, I act in films and stage productions, and I also run acting workshops. I love connecting with people and creating memorable experiences, whether on stage or in the studio. I’m proud of my journey from dance consultant to studio owner, and I enjoy sharing my passion for the arts with others.

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?

I wish someone had told me earlier that 99% of what we experience is out of our control. It would have saved me so much second-guessing and self-limiting. Knowing that would have given me the freedom to reach for the stars sooner in my career. I’ve done amazing things, but letting go of fear and understanding that outcomes aren’t always in our hands would have been a game-changer.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is expressing myself freely and connecting deeply with others. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see how my work resonates, inspires, and sometimes even changes perspectives. It’s that sense of shared humanity and the impact art can have that makes the journey so meaningful
