Alright, Darren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.

I decided to start Steppers of Dystinction also known as SOD is an organization that was founded on November 17, 2021, in Charlotte, North Carolina. We later registered with the North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State and became a licensed entity better known as STEPPERS OF DYSTINCTION LLC. Our mission is to provide a safe, structured and fun space for kids to simply be kids while empowering them to be the best that they can be on and off the stage. We stress the importance of academics while providing study hall. We value togetherness, creativity, passion and commitment! SOD is a community youth step team for youth in the Charlotte and surrounding areas. SOD promotes positivity in the community by giving back to the community and performing at different community events and participating in different step competitions.

Darren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

I am the Founder/Head Coach of Steppers of Dystinction Step Team. I became a coach because I love to mentor youth and like to share my love and passion for step with others that share the same interest. I I am most proud of my team because we have done a lot within the 2 years that we have been established. My goal with the team is for others to know who we are as an organization/team and for the team to gain as much exposure and experience while being on the team. We became North Carolina State Champions and National Champions in our second season of being established! That is a huge accomplishment that I’m most excited and proud of.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I’m still building our audience on our Facebook, Instagram and Tiktok social media pages. We have our current audience because of word or mouth, performing at different events and the team members and parents sharing the pages with family and friends.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?

I would suggest being humble, confident, respectful, hard working and driven. I would also suggest building positive relationships with your team and be a great leader.
